Dunk, how much to have laser replaced?
I also have a chip (can't remember which one) - how much to fit this?

Kevin.

That was going to be the next question... can you get the laser for me or let me know of a website?

i wouldnt of thought you needed a new laser, just the old one cleaned and ligned up again :) its quite common for all this to happen

My prices are at home, but I can email them to you if you drop me a mail to djdunk(at)djdunk.com when I get back.

The prices vary slightly depending on the model of console that you have. So if you could also let me know the SCPH-**** number I get give you a more accurate price.

All the best,
Dunk

Really?

It has recently become temperamental when playing dvd's and dvd-r's either original or 'backup' copies. Multiple restarts or laying it on its side usually help. Its a neo chip.

So clean or replace?

My soon-to-be-three year old (bless her) yanked it off the shelf and probably caused this problem, the disc tray mechanism is no longer as smooth as it used to be either.

the laser will need re-aligned , happened a few times on mine, just cause it stops working doesnt always mean a new laser, a clean might work ??? but i reckon it will be ok if it is re-aligned. straight from me mate who repairs them all the time :)
