i'm getting det

hi all

v6 sti type r, 32000 miles, tek 3, full decat, green panel filter and always run on optimax. seviced 500 miles ago.

the car was remapped over 6 months ago and every now and then at certain weather conitions a det spike would show up on the knock link, but 99% of the time just green flickers on WOT.

now it has just started to light the red for a split second every time i give it WOT.

thinking (hoping!) that it was just a bad dose of optimax i filled it up (was just above a quarter) and i also added a bottle of millers o/b. i left it about 15 miles to make sure i was on the new mix before trying again and although it was better there was alot more k/L activity than usual and it did once light the red.

is a new maf the next step? anybody else had simelar trouble?

cheers stevie

Stevie,
I know a lad had simular problems, He like you thought the worst. He took it back to programmer but was just a bad batch of Optimax

Perhaps a tanker of STD 95 shell put in the Stations Optimax Tank  by mistake ;) of course nobody would notice :(

Id personally still add octane booster to your car, this will counter any bad fuel you get (hopefully) and its not that expensive per tank :D

As above, most likely to be a bad batch of fuel.
Check your fuel pressure...Your pump could be on its way out.

Could be your plugs assuming you haven't changed them recently.

I had an increased amount on KL activity at around 58k, plugged the DeltaDash in and I was seeing -4 degrees of knock correction, spoke to BRDs and they said maybe plugs, anyway changed the plugs, reset ECU and eveything was normal.

Just a thought

Paul
