The good ole days when everyone knew everyone, the grass was greener and the air was cleaner blah blah One thing I will say and historically it seems correct - theres always at least one person on here who makes out they're some kind of genius/guru, then sooner or later they're discovered and fade away or skulk off to try and impress people on other BBS's. I think you're being a bit unfair by not including RobMac as people who organised that charity day. I seem to recall he did a fair bit of sorting out too, not just you? |
I couldnt remember what Rob did or didnt do specifically that day, it was 4 years ago! So i dug out the threads on the event to see who else i forgot. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5695 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5791
As usual my memory isnt perfect from the events of 4 years ago, Rob was working for Donington as their chief instructor so you could include him in the thanks i gave for their help. I have met Rob tens of times since and it's always been a pleasure, so you will have to forgive me if i dont recall exactly what we discussed that particular day. Looks like i did the drivers a mis service, we chipped in almost £160 post the event, more than i said originally. If you think i was being unfair to Rob, you're deluded, i wouldnt be unfair on purpose to anyone that helped that day happen, if i owe anyone an apology it's DocJock as i forgot he was one of the drivers, but like Rob i have met John many times since and its all a bit of a blur now. There were a lot of people to thank for helping make the day a success, and i did that at the apropriate time, four years ago. I worked hard to make that day happen, thanks for bumbing me out about it. |
ahhh. the good old days where everyone new everyone @ track days (or thought they did ;) Fun times
simon (fairly old school myself :)) |
thanks for bumbing me out about it. typical scoobynet, a group of people get together and so some real good. guess its not good enough for some, eh  |

Even after the summer off-board, it's remarkable how the active names have changed in that short time.....

Jeez stop being so defensive all the time and give your ego a rest ffs. Wasn't "bumbing" you out about it, imo you missed off one of the key people who made it happen, regardless of whether he worked for donington at the time or not. Your comment about what Rob and I did came accross as a dig, if it wasnt meant to be then i must not understand your style of comunicating. |

the old donno trackdays were good fun and walking down the pitlane use to take hours, stopping and chatting. I have a picture of that orange lambo and when the delfino turned up
|
I'm a bit OldSkool.
Ahh yes, the Dono days, being scared stupid by JF in his Westie, being scared even more by DJ in his wagon. :D Endless hours on the Chat when it first started.... And there was the old World Record as well, good times, good times.... Cheers Ian |
Ah DJ and his wagon, I remember a nice little trip round Brands in that, lovely.
Old skool? Moi? well, maybe a little. I still recount the first muppet BBQ and the first muppet camping trip (just have to say this to wind up a few people, who seem to have a real problem with this being mentioned, seems like we're not allowed to do that, as it makes us seem clique, irony? perhaps :D) |
From another thread, but there are plenty of 'old skool' faces Here from a rolling road session in May 2000 - Redline (#28) - 2.65Mb

Your comment about what Rob and I did came accross as a dig Back on topic...... no-ones mentioned Mike Rainbird...... |
...I think of myself as one of the lads. :D Been here for a few years now..
/J |
You certainly are OldSkool in my book Jerry :D
Watty/Markus, the old shed is still going strong, more often on Germany than trackdays now.... http://www.ifgclub.com/gallery/galle...ture%20010.jpg ps, Ian, I bet I was more scared than you :p |
Thanks mate.... :D
...drilled any? :D *rofl* I can't help thinking of getting the scoobychat thing back - that was a fun way to meet some of you old muppets. :) /J - getting sentimental with a wee bowmore next to him |
....loads :D
I'll raise a glass with you, you old bugger. |

Not quite sure why I get a mention!
Don't think I made any contribution worth remembering! FFS I still think "knock" is something you do when the doorbell is broke and "det" is what happens when you get drunk and go online shopping! :D |
One of the last meets I went to before selling my classic.
Bonus points for anyone who can guess the date! :notworthy http://www.nevetas.co.uk/albums/album11/grey1.jpg http://www.nevetas.co.uk/albums/album11/grey2.jpg http://www.nevetas.co.uk/albums/album11/grey3.jpg http://www.nevetas.co.uk/albums/album11/grey4.jpg http://www.nevetas.co.uk/albums/album11/grey5.jpg Some serious blasts from the past there, including Mr Croney himself. :p |
30th April 2000 :p
Steve, you are a fool to play with the master of remembering the 'good old days' ;) Oh alright I recognised Gizmo's car (as well as mine) and looked it up on his site :D Didn't you, Cem and Fullon Loon go for a drive that ended up with the aforementioned Mr. Loon having an incident with the scenery? |
Oh, and from memory Anders, Chuck, Chris Coulson, Adamanda, Andy Tang, Darren Soothill, Dick Grimes were just some of the other people at the Greyhound that day ;)
|
who was involved in 'the shootout' with the ford peeps. Might have been July/August 2000? - was heading for Dublin the day that mag was published and read it on the train. I had narrowed my choice of car down a scoob or a supercharged corrado VR6. Read the article and had the scoob within 48 hours. :D

The second Muppet camping trip was a laugh too Marcus. Michelle didnt make us too popular with her 22B BPM Twister full bore at 4am antics though. :o |
