I have a problem please help with my decision!

hi all

I have recently bought a computer off ebay for £930 delivered, from a power seller with 100% feedback.

The item they sent me wasnt as described, in fact they described it as new, when it turned up it had a rma letter inside showing it was returned because of an error, I thought oh well it cant have been used.

I tried to register it, but it was registered in 2003, to another family, therefore its 2nd hand refurb. not just a boxed return unused!

It also turned out to be the lower spec version than advertised.

they have said they will give me 100% refund, but ever since then they have been messing about.

now do i leave negative feedback, positive feedback or shall i ask them to buy my feedback?

please vote.

jamo :)

they offered me a *sweetner* for favourable feedback a printer worth £100.

but that kinda goes against the whole thing imo.

im going to go with whatever scoobynet decides :)

Tell it like it is and hopefully save someone else from going through a repeat of your scenario.

They have messed u around on the original deal, get your money back then stiff them with negative feed back. That'll learn um!

If the transaction is problem-free, I leave positive feedback. If there's an issue which when you bring it to their attention, they put right satisfactorily, I'd say leave Neutral, eplaining the situation. If they DON'T sort out the problem to your satisfaction within a reasonable timeframe (Say 2 weeks for this value of product), I'd leave negative.

If you're happy with the printer, I'd leave neutral and give details.

tell it like it is,ebay relies on honesty all round.

I agree with that actually.

I was going to buy a video off of someone the other day on there and I read their feedback and they had a history of messing people about so I didn't even bother and it ended without a bid so I guess other people thought the same.

thats not always the case with feedback though mate!

Ive just got a negative feedback from a couple in the states, i sent them a signed pic of george best, they refused to take insurance with the package and wanted it sent as cheap as possible, it went missing, they blamed me somehow, and left a negative comment, now i look like a bad seller because they were skinflints!]

Yeah but one or two you can accept but if they do the same to other people and offer them sweetners to keep good feedback then that's not really on :( You'd rather had known before you parted with your cash wouldn't you?

I dont want to come "smart arse after the event" but maybe you should insist on insurance selling abroad.

Get his addy and go round and explain the situation :) he then might be a bit more fourth coming :thumb:

Supplemenary question - if you give someone negative feedback I assume that they just do the same to you to "get their own back" or is there a way out of this (currently being messed about by an e-bay seller). Back on topic I would tell it like it is.. "Oh what a tangled web we weave"....... etc DL

Jamo 21 October 2004 06:42 PM

yeah do what they did to me, wait til the last day you have to leave feedback, leave a neg at 11.59pm, b@stards I cant leave feedback for them now  cus i was waiting for them to leave it first :(

Got to say I'd be well peeved by this and wouldn't hesitate to leave negative feedback.

Personally I build my own PCs and for £930 I could build a very well specced machine.

If I'd purchased a full machine which A)turned out not to be new (and not explained that it was a refurb job) and B)lesser specced than advertised, I'd tell them to stick the printer up their bottom. Got plenty as it is.

I'd probably ask for a refund and send the machine back at thier costs. THEN I wouldn't leave any feedback at all.

As Eddscott said

I also build my own pooters, and £900+ buys you a lot of stuff.

Give Negative feedback def, its the only way this to55er will learn

Mike :)

Ebay works because you can use others feedback as a judge of the sellers honesty.
Had others before you been honest with their feedback you may well not have found yourself with this problem.
What goes around comes around.

Hello

As you mention, wait for the cash and then leave negative feedback.
