What next???
Guys
Just looking for a little advice on what would be the next step to up performance? I have a MY98 UK Impreza Turbo 2000 Full H&S Decat downpipe and centre section with a Magnex back box. Samco Intercooler & coolant hoses. K&N Panel filter. Eibach springs with Prodrive geometry setup. I'm looking for performance improvements bhp/torque levels bearing in mind the car has also done 94k miles so not sure if it is advisable to go more with that sort of miles. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Lads Kieran |
knocklink boost gauge afr meter dawes device
:D then a bigger tmic or a fmic fuel cut defencer bigger turbo remap |
fit an apexi power fc and an avcr :D then you can add on to that when you get bored with it ;)

hi i have the magnex back box and center decat is coming on fri day what difference do they give ?.
Good luck with your mods mate ;) |
I'd imagine the difference will be noticable but not major. You would need to change the down pipe to a decat to really notice the gains. The sound will be lovely from the Magnex though.
Anyone else got any suggestions for my next stage mods? Also excuse my ignorance but what is "apexi power fc and an avcr " Cheers guys |
power fc is a custom ecu and an avcr is the boost controller :) with both these added to your car it will make your modifications so much better, plus if your adding more, your seriously going to have to think about mapping the ecu to keep your car safe
|
Thanks again Stevebt.
Any idea on how much and where's the best place to have it done? Also are there any other options to the Apexi and if so which is best? |
Have you still got 2 pot brakes on the front?
Just a thought :) |

Hi.
Sorry for using your thread, but i just have a couple of quick questions regarding the Apexi PFC. Does it come with any pre-installed maps? If so, how "safe" are they to use on a lightly modified car (full-decat, panel filter, not much more)? Also, does it allow for manual boost control , or do you have to buy something like an AVC-R to do the job? Cheers, Paulo |
apexi ecu comes with a base map which I believe is for a JDM sti in that particular model year.
it is probably highly inappropriate to use on uk fuel with any "vigour". you can run the ecu with a dawes device or similar, but I dont know if you will get the in gear boost to the same effect as with an electronic affair. Andy.F is the man to speak to, he might be along in a minute in fact |
Thanks for the info.
My biggest problem is that I don't live in the UK or anywhere near, otherwise I would already have a remap... I'm from Portugal, and aftermarket ecu's for the Impreza are not common. And to make things worse, there are no experienced mappers over here. I could very easily purchase an ecu from abroad, but then wouldn't have anyone to map it :( That's why I asked if the PFC base map was safe. Been also thinking of getting a Link, but I've benn told the base map was not that good... Cheers, Paulo |
Jay changed to Subaru 4 pots a while back. Big difference over the originals.
1k doesn't sound too bad. Just as a matter of interest what sort of power gains bhp/torque should I expect from the Apexi and boost controller? |

Do the people you mentioned above i.e. Andy and Greenline have websites I could take a look at? |
Power's not everything !
Me I've upgraded the brakes, put stiffer anti-roll bars on the front and rear and replaced the drop links (all Whiteline) so I can maximise the way I can use the power. Doesn't cost a fortune but does change the experience IMHO. Next step will be antilift kit from Whiteline so I can leave the corners even quicker !
