Spacers - What Thickness MDF Is Required ?

I'm am going to fit some Cerwin Vega components (6.5" woofers) into my MY03 front doors.

Does anyone know what thickness of MDF will need to make up my spacers ? The speakers are 62mm in depth.

Many thanks,
Dunk

Oooh, actually, the speaker depth is 62mm so the mounting depth may be less ?

I see 12mm MDF has been used for the Infinity 6000's, anyone know the speaker depth of those ?

Can't you measure the EXISTING OE speaker depth, then work out what is needed?

When I did my Sonys, I used 12mm.

Hiya DJ Dunk

I've just ordered some 6000CS from cel-direct.com. Their website says the mounting depth is 53mm (or 2 & one sixteenth inches if you prefer!).

Don't know if it's relevant, but the 6000CS are 6 inch diameter. The 6500CS is 6.5 inch diameter and has a 62mm mounting depth - don't know if the Cerwin's would be the same though.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Steve

Alcazar - I could, but just wanted to get an opinion before I tear into my door cards, but good point.

Steve - Thanks, 12mm should be fine then.

Will crack open the door and have a measure.

All the best,
Dunk
