Anyone had a rear crank seal go?

Rebuilt my engine 8000 miles ago has been fine but has just sprung an oil leak, covering the bottom of the gearbox in engine oil. Im guessing rear seal gone, but Im not getting any clutch slip. Any other ideas?

Cheers

Andy

Gasket is between £12-£18 & then it would be gearbox out £160 - £250, quite a common seal to go on older cars.

Mine went ages ago. Never got any clutch slip but did cover the underside of the car in oil!!!

Gearbox out, clutch and flywheel off to do it I'm afraid :(

could just be the breather plate behind the flywheel it's only a liquid gasket but still gearbox out

Yeah more or less what I thought I reckon its more likely to be one of the gudgeon pin access holes than the crank seal but Ill whip the box out and have a look. I was well impressed until now, 8k miles and it was dry as a bone!
