Donington Track Day
 

Anybody at Donington Track Day Today, spoke to a couple of people; however there were quite a few scoobs on track. Blue STI with private plate was shifting well.

I was in the 53 plate silver WRX; which before anybody points out, also embarrasingly did a 360spin on the s-bend near pits.

Right then; I only check Scoobynet a couple of times a week so before everybody starts flaming me again; i thought I would put through my version of the events.

First off as i made a mistake it is therefore assumed that i am naturally a crap driver so before i start; yes i have done many track days, yes i noticed the red flag and had slowed down, yes i have driven fast cars for years etc etc. More importantly how can it be classed as irresponsible; do you honestly think I would take a new impreza and then decide to deliberately spin it off the track.

Secondly Yep I did spin my impreza on the ess's; I was taking it fairly steady as i was going into the pits and all of a sudden it starts sliding, the back end is round and i have spun off into the grass. Oddly enough another car also managed to do this a few minutes after i had parked up in the pits.

After the event I was informed by a few of the guys in the pits that there was some oil on the track and obviously mud which we could all see. Whether this was actually there, caused it or not I cannot say; it is very easy to make a snap decision after the event. I was certainly not going particularly fast and I had a passenger with me that also agreed so its anybodys guess really, at the end of the day it is very easy to make a rash judgement without being able to see the full sequence of events again.

Dingy I am very sorry to hear about your car, it was going well round the track; however for people to blame me for this is a bit unfair. Track days are always a gamble as you never know what might happen. If you were behind me at the time and had hit me as a consequence of the spin then fair enough i would constitute it as my error of judgement.

A lot of people were driving fast on the day includng Dingy and Cossie Driver so i wasnt pushing my car any diferent. I was just unfortunate enough to spin off the track on this particular occasion. To be honest it was a pretty mad day, overtaking was a complete gamble as you never quite knew what people were going to do. Particularly with the orange caterham which nearly pushed me into the gravel on a straight twice.

Feel free to flame me now and blame it all on my driving, inexperience etc etc.

Not blaming anyone, as i know the risks, but you did cause an accident under red flags which is a bit odd to be fair, regardless of track experience, you did spin in an odd place for a slow part of the dry track. Whats the newness of the car got to do with it BTW, mine is 28 years old and has more value than a new scoob so its really not the issue.

The 2nd car spun on my glass i beleieve...or was told by marshall.

Its just frustating being the only person doing feck all wrong getting all the grief, from both dono and the fact my car needs fixing.

aint on a war path just nice to find out what happened as it seemed weird for a 4*4 to spin there at that speed especially on a red flag

some of the caterhams were driving incredibly selfishly with a complete lack of track sense. i was in another mates car (red escort) when we got literally pushed off track by one

hardly anyone was indicating to say they were pulling over to let you pass so i totally agree with you on that one!!

fair do's if there was oil on the track (never saw any and no-one blew up though), redgate was an absolute mare in the morning after the blue corolla spun dragging mud all over it, we (me in dingys car) could only cruise over it on shut throttle and it still tried to step each and ever time!!
