Cause of uneven Pad wear

Now on my 4th set of pads in 50k Miles

Each time I have replaced them, the inside pads on the front, are virtually down to the metal on one side, but the other side still about 3mm pad left

they end up looking like ramps :)

Anyone know the cause (btw doesnt matter what discs I have on the car either, as this is my 3rd lot of discs (others havent worn out, just trying different things)

Could it be one of the pistons not pressing as much as the other one ? I do have a calliper repair kits (all new seals, clips & pink grease) just never got round to fitting them :)

Sometimes after heavy breaking, if Im then trundling along in traffic, the steering seems to move from left to right occasionally (I take it this is the pads sticking to the discs)

Also after crawling along in very slow moving traffic (like the blackpool run) my brakes squeal intermittently

Any ideas

Steve

Yes it sounds like the calipers need an overhaul.

Sonic, its a build up of cr#p within the calipers,my MY01 did this on its first set of pads, after that i took them out at regular intervals and cleaned the calipers up and i had no more problems.

Take the pads out and then push the pistons in and out by hand whilst cleaning them and it should sort it.

and replace my hoses, fluid & disks :)

Sounds like it could be a sticky piston.
Mine where squealing a while back intermitent when going forwards and always when reversing, just took the pads out and cleaned all the crap off the backs, cleaned the shims and cleaned the pistons where they come into contact with the pads. Covered pad backs and shims with plenty of copper slip and all squealing noises are gone:)
Im due for a set of new front disks - still on originals @ 38k;) will have to get some new pads too not sure whether to go for the 1155's again though?

Ayde.

The inner pad always wears quicker

I could do with new shims to be honest, they have seen much better days
