Dodgy Starter motor?

My My97 sometimes refuse to start....I justr get a click. It's been hapening for a couple of weeks now but i wanted to make sure it wasn;t me doing something wrong with alarm etc.

A mate reckons it could be starter motor and car just needs 'rocking' to start. Sure enough, the twice I've rocked it, it started.

Could these be a faulty starter motor. I'll be back to dealer with it next week me thinks. Also getting a strange sound on boot at around 4k revs.

Oh and by the way, I'm a complete novice when it comes to mechanics / how car works!

my starter was dodgy and if you kept turning the key it eventually went i eventually got fed up with everyone looking at me and changed it.......

Dij supplied my starter and its bang on, cheers mate :)

have you checked the earth connection?
rocking it would seem only to assist in making that was once loose now connect doesnt it?

and sound at 4k revs?
could be a case for getting a knocklink/lambdalink to me, and quickly

Yeah....you could be right....how much do you think for knocklink/lambdalink? and fitting ?

The sound is wierd...I'm not sure how to describe it. The closest I can come up with...and I'm gonna regret saying this is like.....a.......'moo-ing'

:cuckoo:

new from Bob Rawle (brdevelopments) would be favourite, I think lambdalink is about £85 and the knocklink is very well priced too, sometimes there is a group buy on here and that can bring KL cost down to about £130 IIRC.
second hand is anyones guess, there is an afr going for £400 that I know of (look under my last post in wanted) and KL's can get down to about £90 if they are available.
its £200 odd well spent in my eyes, safety first and all that.
