Got me car at last!!!

Hi all i have been lookin for a nice standardish uk turbo for a while , and i finally got one last sat its a 97 r-reg, done 46k and has a full dealer history . It already had an magnex cat back system and im planing the rest of my mods now :).
One question thoe it sometimes doesnt start first turn of the key, only in the cold weather (ie tonight and last night?) .

Any ideas ladies and gents?

Made the same move myself (5th gen to MY00 Turbo), the best descision I have ever made. It was fun from 5000rpm round to 7500rpm, but this thing can actually go round corners! A much more satisying and rewarding drive.

Sorry can't answer your question, although you do know not to press the accelerator whilst turning the ignition don't you?

If you don't get any luck here try and find a specialist to talk to in your area (normally very friendly and helpful).

Cheers mate , didnt know about the pressing the accelarator thing, whats all that about then?.
Ill phone my local dealer if i get no joy in the technical section.

Just a note I read in the manual. It's all controlled automatically, if you depress the accelerator then you may be flooding the engine thus not starting on the first try. Just a thought! May not be this at all!

Yep: Don't press the pedal; the car takes car of this for you!

You do also know about warming up and cooling the car off don't you? Don't wish to be patronising, but they are very imp issues!

Best.

Have you got an induction kit fitted? I have heard of starting problems with these fitted. Otherwise check the basics - battery, plugs leads coil etc. Should be something simple. Maybe do a search for 'starting problems' or something to that effect.
Good luck.

Yes mate panel filter all the way - tsl do a green panel or you can get the sti one from i think scoobyshop but the green will last you longer.

I always wave when I see another Scoob.

Not one of them has bothered to wave back yet. Does no-one know what the Legacy looks like?

Some of the new STi's seem to have that problem too, mine has occasionally failed to fire on the first turn of the key when its frosty, and that was at ~3k miles. Been fine all this year though, see if it happens again in its second winter.

prelude 18 October 2004 01:19 PM
