What time does ur Postie turn up

Couldn't believe it yesterday, 16:45hrs he turned up:eek:

So what's the earliest / latest time you get ur mail ??

Tiggs 14 October 2004 10:57 AM

8am......never late

OllyK 14 October 2004 10:57 AM

We are lucky of we get our mail before 13.00, Loughborough is one of the trial areas for not having a second post any more - not sure if that has been rolled out yet.

JoeyDeacon 14 October 2004 10:58 AM

Always used to get the mail around 7:30AM in the morning up until about a year ago. I leave home at 8:30AM and it is never there before I leave for work.

ScoobywagonGl 14 October 2004 11:00 AM

this morning it was 11am although they normally turn up around 12 ish ... but if i have a parcel then the posty lets himself in rather than knocking

Phil 14 October 2004 11:01 AM

11 ish Damn annoying

I'm still waiting for ScoobyMag as well

lightning101 14 October 2004 11:02 AM

As soon as he sees me leaving - 5 houses and the same postie, I've always found that strange.

Clarebabes 14 October 2004 11:02 AM

Before 8am for me during the week and even earlier on a Saturday - I know cos I've been woken up at 7am to accept a few parcels :(

We never have had a second post anyway.

angrynorth 14 October 2004 11:04 AM

After 12 usually

BlkKnight 14 October 2004 11:07 AM

usually 8am - but last couple of weeks been @ 3pm.

Rung up local PO gave them a talking to - now back to 8am.

davegtt 14 October 2004 11:16 AM

10:30am which I think is cr@p but he always seems to deliver that much earlier 9am on a saturday when I fancy a lie in so the dog gets up, I get up to stop the dog eating the mail..... cant remember the last time I was in bed after 8:30am :(

G-STAR 14 October 2004 11:26 AM

I used to get mine around 7.30am, but for the last six months or so, it's always been after 1:00pm.

Ringpeas 14 October 2004 11:29 AM

The postie will come anytime from 8 'till 4.

The mail on the otherhand rarely gets here at all

Four letters at least gone missing this month alone Grrrrrr

tiggers 14 October 2004 11:37 AM

13:30-14:00 - no second post and no post on Saturdays (not that they admit to the last one). Seems fair enough though as the cost of postage has been reduced in line with the reduction in the qulity of service

Spoon 14 October 2004 11:38 AM

It was always 8am without fail.

Now it's whenever they arrive.

It's not even daily anymore, they store it up for a larger drop as it's always delivered by van anyway, out in the sticks.

When my hounds sound like they are ripping into someone at the gates, is the time Postie has arrived. :D

You know what?

I don't give a flying donkeys testes either.

Our post had been late recently so I called PO Customer Care 08457 740 740 I was told I could only report mail as being late if it arrived later than 2pm.
Seeing that it had gone from around 8:20am to about 12pm it wasn't considered a problem

Scoob99 14 October 2004 11:49 AM

Morning All,
Your friendly SN Postie here, I can clear some of this up, Royal Mail have now scrapped a 2nd delivery, but their is talk of it coming back:rolleyes: As for your late deliveries Posties now have to do a lot of sorting before they leave the office and it must be cleared, Also you have to take into account holidays and sick leave, so if your mail is late don't bollock the postie cause 99% of the time It's not his fault, if you wish to blame someone blame the management.
Cheers
Colin

richiewong 14 October 2004 11:49 AM

About 2 minutes ago with my knocklink :D

gutter-rat 14 October 2004 11:58 AM

I don't get a second post either.
Or should I say they've just dropped the 1st post! :(

Post seems to turn up about 5.30pm most days

David Lock 14 October 2004 12:18 PM

Varies day to day depending on sex :D Post Person (male) usually gets here before 10.00. Post Person (female) anytime after 1.00. Quite often get mail to a no 19 (my number) but to different street. Had letter with Scotland address recently (I am in Sussex). Friendly folk though and I gather they are pretty pi$$ed of with bosses. DL

Dream Weaver 14 October 2004 12:19 PM

Between 10am and 2pm, depends.

MJW 14 October 2004 12:23 PM

I now pick our firm's post up from the sorting centre, a right chore. It's not the second post thats been abolished, its the first post. The service is absolutely pathetic these days. And as for the illiterate cretins they have doing the sorting, they're the greatest argument I can think of for raising the abortion time limit to 30 years.
Rant over, my that was cathartic !

Delboy2 14 October 2004 01:27 PM

We received our post as late as 8pm  when the regular Postie was on Hols!! Wondered who the fook it was at that time of night putting stuff through the letterbox.

Cheers

Scoobychick 14 October 2004 01:51 PM

Ours usually arrives between 11am and midday, that is if she puts it through the right letterbox. Last week a cheque that I needed urgently was delivered to the house next door which just happens to be empty at the moment so I didn't receive it for days by which time I'd had it stopped and had had to go into town to pick up a replacement

Also we kept receiving mail for other people at the same number but completely different road and more of our mail didn't show up so, I waited for the postie to arrive and opened the front door just as she was putting next door's mail through our letterbox

I pointed out that we have two numbers on our front door at eye level that both show our number quite clearly and asked her why we were getting next doors and why was ours going to house on the other side. I also asked her if she'd just put ours through next doors and she said she hadn't (she lied, our neighbour brought it round later). She blamed her incompetence on the fact that she hadn't been shown the round properly  Ffs it's not hard to read a number and put it through the corresponding door is it?

Anyway since my rant a week ago it hasn't happened again, touch wood :D

Same here, a great way to meet the neigbours but FFS why can't they read the numbers on peoples doors? Oh and my mail arrives in batches anytime from 9 till 4.

But what has happened to their dress code? The other day I saw a man emptying out a post box, white trainers, jeans with a blue shirt. Its only when I spoke to him I saw the royal mail badge on his clothing.

I have stopped the postmen entering our building at work as some of the younger blokes that turn up look just as bad and twice as dodgy! The older chaps look smart and how you expect a postie to look, they speak (the younger ones tend to just grunt).

Probably a casual agency worker who wears his/her own clothes. I've been working as a casual at the weekends for a couple of months now. Casuals are asked to wear a Royal Mail high visibility vest to identify themselves as Royal Mail workers.

I'm not on the defensive here but when I've been sorting there are a number of letters incorrectly addressed - they're impossible to identify. Sometimes, the letter is simply addressed with the person's name and the town they live in. It's highly likely that that item of post isn't going to be delivered - therefore it becomes a 'statistic'.

Nicci 14 October 2004 03:24 PM

My post used to arrive around 7.30am every day.

It is great getting your mail before you go to work.

Then a couple of months ago a letter arrived from the Royal Mail explaining that deliveries were changing (no 2nd class) and that mail could be delivered at any time.

My postman vanished and so did the early delivery. There now seems to be a different person each week and the post arrives at lunchtime (it has at weekends anyway).

I hate the change (we didn't have 2nd delivery in my area before the change anyway).

The system is a sham. When is someone going to take charge of the Royal Mail?

yoza 14 October 2004 03:38 PM

If Im on earlies......He comes late.
If Im on lates.......He comes early.

Coming to think about it, has a striking resemblance to my son.

Maybe he has been emptying more than one sack !
