Yet ANOTHER scam, this time genealogy.

This morning I received a letter through the post informing me that a company have got "historic records about my family dating back to 1625". Plus they have discovered a "magnificent Coat of Arms". They have offered me a book for 52.95, but if I ordered one now I only have to pay 34.95.

I found this really odd, as my family only came to this Country at the end of the 19th Century from central Europe. I've just Googled the companies name (William Pince Publishers) and low and behold there're countless sites saying beware.

Perhaps when they say 1625, they mean twenty five past four :)

LOL I got one of them too ;) Given one of my relatives worked in the hall of records (or whatever it's called) for the area my family is from and only traced our family back to early 1800s....it went straight in the bin :D

hardly a scam...if you read it properly it says what it is......you pay up and they print some crap of the pc for you. if anyone is "scammed" they are a retard and deserve it in this case.

One of my relations baught one of these books for a similar price, when it arrived basically consited of about 5 pages of names and adresses of people with same name around the world.

The rest of the book was a guide telling you how to trace your family not actually giving any info about them.
