Which driving lamp conversion?
I'm wanting to convert the foglamps on my MY00 to driving lamps. Been looking at PIAA & Cibie's but wondered who's got what on their car and what they reckon of them.
PIAA's seem a bit more expensive, and it looks like buying the parts seperately rather than a kit would be a lot cheaper. Any advice on lamp choice (models) would be appreciated - I know it's an old topic so please bear with me. Also - foglamp covers can't be used with either can they? |
I have a set of Cibie 130W (each) driving lights and they are great. Bulbs can blow fairly often so I now put 100W bulbs in and they seem to be lasting longer.
Brilliant for driving down country lanes, turns night into day! :):) No you cannot use for covers on them, the fitment woudl be different and the heat would melt them I think!! Nezz. |
I've got Scoobysport's HIDs, absolutely the dogs' :D:
Whatever you get, do get some clear covers for them as they are prone to breaking. If Search is working, I did a post about 3 months back listing what's available (then), what's good and bad about each one. At the mo, I'd go with Cibies, I think. The bulb problem can be solved using soldered bulb holders, again a thread on here about 10 days ago, explained.https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...car_lights.jpgread Alcazar |
I think I'm favouring towards the Cibie's at the mo - I'm assuming I'll need the Oscar's but are they all the same size and how easy is the fitment?
also advice on fitting and things like relay's and wiring into foglamp switch would be good. Apologies if this repeats the other threads, I'll look at those in a mo... |
Cibies are Oscar Plus, DON'T just go out and buy any old Cibies, you'll have probs fitting them. Try some of the dealers who advertise on here for light kits.
They come with instructions and all fittings, wire etc. If you need advice on how to switch them via the OE foglight switch on a classic, PM me. Most people just have them wired to come on/go off with main/dip, which is a legal requirement, BTW. Alcazar |
