Ok, I cant resist, back to scoobydom I come
Hi folks,
As some of you may know, I recently sold my 92 WRX. I bitched about the fuel consumption etc but hell, Im addicted. Seriously. So I went to the local "sports" dealer and they have a 53 plate STI with PPP and a verified 11,000 (including roadside assistance and outstanding warrenty) on the clock for a bargained down price of 16,500. So my question, does this represent reasonable value for money? |
offer 15k and settle for 15.5k ;)
|
For that money, bite their hands off ! 27k car for 16k just 1 year on  If you don't buy it, I will.
|
ok, i shall see if I can get it asap :)
insurance is ok too, at just over 1k |
thats cheap as chips...when buying my 04wrx i was offered a 53 Sti WITHOUT PPP, doing 23K miles for £18,700, reduced form a window price of 19995 i think.... so yeah... sounds like a price!!
sounds a bit too good to be true? |
Well, it has a screen price of 17,495, with a BHP readout of 301 BHP ?
|
Sounds realy cheap snatch it up :D
|
Sounds suspiciously cheap actually - I looked at 1yr old STI/PPP cars a few months back and the going rate at a main dealer was £22k. Private sales weren't much cheaper.
I think you'd do well to try and establish why the car is so cheap. Make sure it's not been a write-off at least, or in any other serious accident. It may well be a Euro import but that's no reason to avoid it. If it checks out OK (an HPI check is a must, maybe an AA/RAC inspection too) then bite the seller's arm off and enjoy :D |
If its hpi clear and no suspect issues, then rip that mans hand off,i paid £16500 for my 03 sti ppp with 45000 miles on and i bought it without question(from a main scooby dealer
regards mark) |
Very cheap, check it out, ask the dealer if it has been bumped they have to tell you the truth. If its clear rip his hand off.

That sounds way too cheap - a quick search on autotrader will tell you that. I'm currently staring down the barrel of 23k for the same car (8k on the clock PPP and the prodrive alloys - PF7 i think they're called). Granted that is a main dealer price and I haven't haggled yet, but its still 29k worth when bought new and I dont expect to get it for less than 21k.

Huge variance between speculative / naive (sp?) prices for scoobs and true market values - just get quotes from Dealers as to how much they would buy same car for (allow for exageration prior to payment..) |
