Brakes then MORE power, safest way IMO

also you will be very supprised how much quicker you can get 'point to point' by breaking much later into corners.

Yeah I'd spend it on suspension and brakes first before anything else - much more fun. You soon get used to the extra power

Decat exhaust would be first, with decent air filter and then suspension mods.
I recommend the aliignment and mods done by Powestation which cost me £500 and has transformed the handling.
Means you can take corners faster and get the power on earlier with no understeer and thus get to the gatso faster.

Agree on the brakes, they are absolute ****e on a WRX. Get some 4 pot calipers 2nd hand and fit uprated pads / discs and you will get more from the car from being able to brake confidently.

Absolute first mods on any car, in my opinon, is a knocklink, boost gauge and AFR in that order - before you mod it. A lot of people do these last, which always confuses me. I would also swap the 02 sensor out as it pays in terms of fuel economy.

Then the decat and good panel filter. Decats are ade by many but Magnex / Hayward and Scott / TSL are normally top of the list. Filters are ither STi or Green filters for me.

Remeber to run it on Optimax as a minimum too, or your mod money will soon be rebuild money :)
