Help with my Supra

Hello

My Japanese imported MKIV Supra became very sick this evening and I need
some help.

Basically the car started making strange noises and didn't drive properly.
I called the AA who found a big steel ring had came off of the fanbelt. I
have this heavy piece of circular metal! The belt is now slipping.
Basically the car is undrivable and I need to explain what part I need to a
Toyota garage so they can order it and then I can get the AA to tow the car
there to be fixed.

I can take a picture of the part if that helps, but I would really
appreciate a best-guess answer.

Thank you!

Steve.

is that the fan belt pulley?

it's the fan belt pulley - but the bit in the middle of the circle is missing? looks like the pulley has sheared off from where it bolts onto the car (crank?)

so further to that, you could probably get it welded back together :)

Head over to www.mkivsupra.net mate and enquire there - they'll know what to do! :D

It is the outer part of the fan belt pulley and it looks as though it has parted company with the centre bit which is probably on the crank or even on one of the devices which is driven by the fanbelt. I think they will need to see it to identify what needs replacing.

and now in the cold light of day i would say dont weld it back together as it might end up out of balance. why did it break? i take it nothing seized and the belt wasn't overtightened? seems like a freak occurance.

you just need a new pulley.
