Well it aint the first time its happened to me and it probably wont be the last time, had a problem about 4 years ago with a renault 19 16v, someone had dented the front wing in the car park at the railway station, they were kind enought to leave their name and address (thank god) but having put my car into the dealer (not my usual one who were much better anyway but i was away from home.....) for repairs (and it was a very mint motor too!!) it came out with more wrong with it than it had gone in with!
Firstly the paint was not a match.... and secondly there were burn marks in the cloth seats!!!! and i dont smoke!!! and i wasnt very happy either!!!
Time for your gripes guys.

Oh I can top that big time. I bought a Fiat Strada Abarth 130TC from North City Autos. Btween me test driving is and picking it up they'd taken in out for a thrashing and shagged the engine which they fixed. After some minor disputes with them I ended u having to complain to Fiat who did nowt so I wrote the Mr Agnelli in Italy, the dude that owns Fiat, who took away this dealers Fiat accreditation. They then liquidated and turned into another company, Autostrada, whilst they had my car. They were not too happy and when I picked up my car , left dumpoed iin their deserted car park, they'd attacked the bodywork with screwdrivers leaving a nice series of wholes in the rear quarter. They never reopened and the chap that owned this place disappeared.

Needless to say I was more than slightly upset !!

Well my car went in 2 months ago to be fixed.....but it hasn't, so I guess nothing happened to it really, which in some ways is quite good, isn't it? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Some years ago, my ex-boss took his Mitsubishi Galant to a main dealer for a new clutch. They fitted the clutch, took it for a test run and wrote it off - on the forecourt!

A friend of mine used to work in the paintshop of a rover dealer. They had a 928 in for respray. After respray someone pranged it in the carpark prior to refitting front bumper. Refitted bumper and damage was hidden.

A mate of mine dropped his Scirroco Storm off for servicing at a main VW dealer, donkeys years ago.

He realised he'd left something in the back of the car and went back half an hour later, only to find it being handbraked about in the car park! (by the mechanics).

He was not amused and they agreed to take 50% off the cost. Outrageous I say- he should have sued them!

Colleague of mine had a 500 Merc convertible. Took it in for some brake work. Wheel fell off later that day when his wife was driving up the sliproad after many miles of motorway driving. They hadn't replaced all the wheelnuts properly.

Into the garage for new wheel bearings - quick blast along the motorway at 100mph (many years ago, officer), into a car park over a sleeping policeman and the wheel folds in on itself!!!

Upon investigation - no bolt holding the strut to the anti-roll bar. Strangely, this bolt had to be removed to change the bearing..

Was lucky - imagine hitting a pothole on the motorway....

No satisfaction from the garage - afraid I resorted to the old "brick-through-the-window" strategy - I'm much older and wiser now and, of course, don't condone this sort of behaviour!

Had an Escort Mexico a long while ago and took it to my local Ford dealer for a service and 'once over'.

Whilst out at lunch getting a sandwich heard a rather nice sounding car coming towards me at speed....yep you guessed it my car being driven madly by one of the mechanics egged on by 3 of his mates. I immediately phoned the dealer concerned and asked when my car would be ready and what the cost was, deathly silence on the end of the phone as they looked for my car on their lot. I then proceeded to use several 'old english' words and descriptions of what I was going to do to their staff when I came to collect my car that evening. The service manager (to his credit) was as annoyed as me and explained the matter would be redressed before I picked the car up. Upon arrival at the said dealer my car was on the forecourt fully cleaned and valeted and I was informed the cost of the service would be covered by them.

Not bad from a Ford dealership.

Friend sent his TT of to germany for the suspension Mods, Two and a half months later car is returned with so many dents you would not belive.

Had my Sport in for a short motor to cure the piston slap issue and got the car back with a dent in the bonnet. Apparently when they have the bonnet right back the stay is clipped in a different position. The mechanic then shut the bonnet when he'd finished without putting the stay in its proper home and......well...lets say it did nothing for the appearance of the car.

Now where is my JD Power questionaire........

Not quite exactly the topic but.....
Along the lines of 'Swallowed a fly'...I want to recount this to get it off my chest:
Visited Scumchester Utd for a seminar (would never be seen dead there otherwise) and was directed to their car park (usually a no no).
Came out of Old Tw**ford (tw*t ford now there's a thing!!) a couple of hours later: lovely DENT in shiny new scooby (3 wks old).
Well teed off but got a well known dent removal firm to come & sort it.
£50 later the dent is removed, well chuffed.
Next day, oh no, noticed several scratches in the window in line with the previous dent.
Washed the car and a scatch appears from
no-where, again in line with the dent.
B*****KS!!!!!!!!
Said dent firm admit liability but only for the window (£200+) not the scratch (Mmmmm).
Local scratch repairer duly arrives, not a bad job but if you know its there......
Dent people have a contract with national window firm who will replace the glass foc.
Next day, I go for the window,they fit it in an hour, set off back to work....no central locking! Back to autowhatsits, another hour to fix the locking after much messing about.
Back to work 1 1/2 hours late. Open the door to find a gouge in the plastic, a slice out of the paintwork on the inside rear door where they had slammed the door without interior trim fixed properly!!!!
Drive home with real strop on up a hill-rattle rattle rattle, fixings rolling back & forth inside the door!!!
SO, apart from never ever having anything to do with MAN UTD, it would seem that using a main dealer is a very good idea.

Last September I had a new clutch fitted...the next day there was a horrible clonking sound from underneath the car.

When I looked underneath, the exhaust was hanging from the rear rubber only and the middle bearing of the propshaft was being held on by about one thread of one bolt (the other had droped out).

The damage if the bearing had fallen right off would have been very considerable.

Used to have a 97P Peugeot 306 GTI 6, which I owned from new.

Was convinced the dealer switched parts with other vehicles e.g my new plastic trim becomes worn 100k miler plastic trim overnight.

They also nicked my spare wheel.

No more Peugeots for me!
