Saxo VTS and SUL
A mate of mine is getting a W plate Saxo VTS soon and asked me if running it on SUL or optimax would make any difference to the performance..i said i didnt know but i know a bunch of guys that probly would so....
will it? |
I thought mines ran a little nicer on SUL (just a bit smoother and more urgent) and I got better MPG which went some way to offsetting the extra cost. A mate that has a VTS also believes his runs better on sul/optimax. Any differences will be slight though.

If it has a knock sensor it will adjust the ignition timing to correct for the fuel octane rating, so SUL will give slightly more advanced ignition than NUL. Thus slightly more power.
Not all Saxos have knock sensors. But I think the VTS does :) |
I got a VTS and it definitely runs better on Optimax. Having said that I can't say I've noticed an improvement in economy. In fact I do a 450 mile run from yorks to hants and back every weekend and I fill up on regular unleaded to do that because it seems such a waste of optimax to just burn it up sitting in traffic on the M1 and A34.
Most certainly better performance on optimax though, especially noticeable in the lower revs. |
I agree with the above post, Ive got a VTS as well as the WRX and it definitely runs better on Optimax than anything else.

Thanks very much for all your replys guy, i have passed it on, and he is happy (just picked it up today)
