Saw a Supra today and am puzzled
Hi all.
Need a sanity check. I saw a Supra today and it was perfect...exactly what I am looking for. Need your advice though. The Engine TAG no suggests that the car is a 4-sp AUTO AEROTOP while the car most definetely is a 6-sp Man and NOT an aerotop. So the Engine TAG does not correspond to the what the car is. I really like the car...but I need to make a decision with my head rather than my heart. Why oh why should a car have a different tag????? How can it have gone undetected?? |
sounds a bit suspect to me matey, would suggest getting it checked with interpol and/or hpi check just to be safe :)

any strangeness on tags/vin plates and you walk away :(

Imi, tell him to fax u over the V5 registration document too. I think it tells u on there if the car is 6sp manual or 4sp Auto....
Different Tag means it could well be a ringer.... i.e a very dodgy car! |

Agreed. Forget purchase before you even begin. |
Echo everything said above, there are plenty of other nice Supras out there that do match up.

Not a chance, walk away.

Whats even worse is that someone stoled the boot space out of all of them!
All you get is a large glovebox sized space! |

if you have detailed questions you may want to head over to www.mkivsupra.net/bbs, but can I ask how you checked the VIN plate for the cars details? You may want to check it against www.mkiv.co.nz as they have some good info on there.
If it says its an auto aerotop and its not then I would walk away from it, cut and shut and identification changes are too easy on imported cars. JB |
