Annoyed by the presence of this fast looking head turning boy racer icon you glance over to see the mid life crisis ugly man driving it who catches your eye and starts to pound the throttle of his little two litre turbo jap rally car, You cant resist, little does he know upon looking over at your elegant saloon that you have under the hood one of the most powerful production engines ever put into a saloon car. Red, Amber, Green GO!!! For ½ a second your traction control system thinks about what is going on and Mr impreza is a meter ahead then your valves open in goes the gallon of magical fuel BOOM you just passed him doing 60mph in a little over 5 seconds, Subaru man looks worried realising that his modified pride and joy is now being overtaken by a sensible BMW saloon, but its not over….. he does not realise that not only does this wolf in sheep's clothing meet him on acceleration but it has no boundary, the acceleration continues forever, It will take you to over 160mph if you ever had enough road. You've left him now a long distance in your auto tinting rear view mirror and you can return to legal safe driving pleased and grinning that you can annihilate every car that ever pulls up next to you. Now you have beaten the supposed best of the best without trying next time one pulls up next to you, you can sit back grinning knowing that you never need try again you drive the best.

My aged Rover creeps up to sixty in 5.8 seconds (passengers say it 'feels' quicker) so maybe all those 'Aids' drivers of these overblown teutonic wheels rely so heavily on are not so quick off the mark after all.

The 0 - 62 is 6.5 seconds not less than 5 (lol) a standard Impreza will blow a 540 away from the lights. However the 400nm of torque means that 50 - 100 not much keeps up.

Annoyed by the presence of this boxy old mans eclipse idling next to you, you glance over to see that this geriatric loser is inching ahead bit by bit trying to get as much of a head start on you as possible and save some face, but its no good, little does he know that your little turbo jap rocket can lap the world renowned proving ground of the Nurburgring Nordschleife in just a little over 8mins:20secs as opposed to his borderline 10 minute jobby. Red, Amber, --- and the tank has made a premature break for it. For about 2 whole seconds you contemplate how much of an arse he is then floor it with a big smile on your face in the full know of what is about to happen. The turbo comes on full boost and your into second gear then upto 60mph in 4.5 seconds with minimal fuss. O !!! 'Hello gramps', third gear, 'Goodbye gramps' !! The withered old git looks worried realising that his so called sporty yet executive saloon is being crushed by this fast looking head turner but its not over..... despite being abliterated by this Evo rally rocket he still does not realise that this wolf in wolfs clothing has no bounary, the acceleration pulls throughout the rev-range due to its short gearing and the cornering ability is the best in its class due to the most sophisticated AWD,AYC and ACD systems in the world but this can be demonstrated another day on the twisties.

540 is a top motor.

M5 is nice if a little heavy - very quick once over 60mph! I once outran one in my Golf VR6 (tweaked heavily) - oh how we laughed as he hit his speed limiter and we cruised past with the speedo off the clock (and him "rowing" the wheel). :D:D
