Is Doom 3 REALLY that bad?

The doom 3 engine is superb, but the game is the most monotonous drivel ever. Shoot 300 bad guys/zombies/spiders, find lift exit level - repeat for dozens of levels.

I'm actually quite enjoying Doom 3 :)

If you've ever played the first doom games, the basically it's more of the same with better graphics. Exactly what the developers said it would be like (basically a remake of the original game), so if you were expecting anything different, then I think your expectations were set incorrectly...

I've been playing Doom 3 for a while now and as Iain Young said, anybody who has played the original Doom will know it is more of the same with better graphics.

To be honest, doom 3 looks nice when you run it on max detail settings. It's very atmospheric and the later levels are better then the earlier ones. But yes, it's a bit lame and linear.

The whole story line is a near ripp off of Half Life.. i.e scientists mucking around and transporting things from another dimension .. just hell this time ;)

Eh? I think you'll find Half Life is a rip off the original Doom in that case!
