Sold the Type R.....and welcomed in this...

Just got around to getting some pics of our new baby.
It was a sad day to see the Type R go, however this has dampened the pain somewhat..................

Look nice and powerfull...how is on the twisties?

Not too bad to be honest, although I havent really given it the guns in temper around the twisties yet.
It has the PSM (Porsche Stability Management) option which keeps things in order.
I did have a play with an FQ320 a few weeks ago in the wet and there didnt seem to be much in it when looking at general 20-120acceleration.

The main observation with the 911 is that at 120-130 you still have another 2 whole gears to go...........the Type R is comparison was nearing the limiter in top at 130ish and definately not comfortable for long periods at that range.

Your 996 looks great. It has got me thinking about when I replace my 02 STi in a couple of years time. I was thinking about a 993 because I preferred the more curvy styling over the 996 and I was also not keen on silver. However, the GT3 aerokit on your 996 totally transforms the styling for me and it even looks good to me in silver.

Do you find your 996 as exciting to drive as your Scoob and how much did you pay for your 996? I am hoping that the new 997 will cause prices of 996s and 993s to fall substantially over the next two years.

My girlfriend and partner is mad on 911s and today we traded in her 3.2 Sport for a white 1989 Carrera 4 which looks great, but is rather quiet - sport exhaust coming soon I think.

Cheers for the comments everyone.

It certainly does put a smile of yer face whenever driving it.
To be honest that was the biggest fear when selling the Type R. It used to make me smile everytime I got in it.
The acceleration was so intense (modded to 320bhp/310lbft) that it simply made you giggle.

However I have to say that the 911 is equally as enjoyable and rewarding to drive, just in different areas.
The main advantage is that its truly an allrounder thats happy both on a track at 10/10s or on a 2000mile cruise at 40mph.
Out of the factory 5secs to 60mph, 13sec quarter mile and pulls strong to the factory top speed of 175mph!

No regrets whatsoever, only an empty bank account I'm afraid.
