iTunes
Just started importing cds onto my HD using iTunes inwait for my ipod to be delivered, stuck the first cd in. Changed the quality up to 192 kb/s and whacked the import button. Started importing, and said 1.2 hours till its done, and i know the time is usually a exagerration, but it seems to be takin for ever, im tlkin 5 mins a track, is something wrong with my cd drive or is it just like this? :S
|
o, and im using ACC as the format. SHould i be using mp3 to make this process faster by any chance?
|
thought the ipod only played mp3 anyway? but i do all mine as mp3's and have no probs at all
|
Mine are in AAC format. I used to have the same problem and it turned out my CD drive was unhealthy. When its reading from the CD have a look at the transfer speed. I average around 20-40x so a CD album is 3 mins. My old drive averaged around 1.6x.

Objectivley, what is the better format mp3 or ACC, just tried importing a CD in mp3 and seems much faster.
|
Both are pretty sh1te but MP3 is better than ACC - you get all sorts of phasing issues with the bass end with ACC.
MP3s should also encode much faster..... Dan (I work with this stuff all day ;)) |
thnx, i found tht mp3 wrks better and faster
if they're both sh!te, wht format wud u reccomend that is compatible with an ipod? |
A similairly encoded aac file is of better quality than mp3.
When I import an album on my Powerbook (1.33GHz) it usually takes around 3-5 mins :) |
Apologies - please let me define "sh1te" - compared to CD or DVDa. I'm an audio snob :D
Haven't tried the Apple Lossless one yet - just tend to stick to MP3 (but a v'high bit rate - you get less songs, but it is better quality) A similairly encoded aac file is of better quality than mp3. I hope this helps :) Dan:) |
