suggest a PC game for a friend...

my mate's got a shuttle system with an XP2400 and integral GeForce MX video card.

I'm trying to think of games he can play on it, but obviously he would struggle to try Doom 3 or Half Life 2 on it.

Can anyone recommend a good FPS that will run really well on it, but still have fairly modern graphics ?

He's played Call Of Duty and Medal Of Honour and loved both.

Barbie horse riding - my daughter can't stop playing it, she has a similar spec machine. Dress up my little pony also seems popular.

battlefield 1942

Very good single play, its not scripted like most other FPS with very free gameplay - awesome fun online.

Get him to download the secret weapons of WW2 demo (expansion pack), great fun and the level is playable online.

New call of duty expansion was out yesterday :)

MOH Spearhead
MOH Breakthrough

Think he's off down the shop to get that Call OF Duty Expansion Pack :)

Anyone remember SYSTEM SHOCK II ? God I LOVED that game!

Seems like an age ago - do you reckon it'll run on XP ok ?

tell him to save his money and buy a gfx card if he's got a shuttle with a AGP slot.
Geforce MX won't handle any of the current games, although he could prolly play Counterstrike and the original Half-Life

The GTA series will run OK as long as you don't whack the graphics options right up.
(I was playing them on an 1800 with 32mb GeForce 2)

Agree with the advice to get a decent AGP graphics card.

When I first built my PC I had a Geforce 4 MX440 (knew no better at the time!) and Medal of Honour ran very nicely on it. The two add ons (Spearhead and Breakthrough) ran worse on this card, infact Breakthrough would be pretty much unplayable.

I think Call of Duty should run OK on this card and Battlefield 1942 will play at 800*600 but will be pretty slow.

As for Far Cry and Doom 3 you can forget about playing either of these on that card.

I'm eagerly waiting for the add on to Call of Duty at the moment which should be released on the 20th.

Hanslow 16 September 2004 03:22 PM

Oops, it was released in the states on the 15th. Looks like release date here is 24th Sept.

Your preaching to the converted brothers - I run a Radeon 9800 Pro! :)
