More bass please without a sub in the boot??!

Hi all,

I have a bugeye wagon and am upgrading the HU to a rather unattractive, but fully ''DSP'd'' Pioneer 4000. I enjoy warm subtle bass as opposed to small nuclear device style ... well I am 41 with three kids! We all know about the OEM speakers in the car ...

My style of music is more ''Moog bass pedals'' and 5 string bass guitars as opposed to thumping, driving dance rythmns (is that how you spell that?)

I have sold an AUDI A4 recently which had a 10 speaker system which included a rather discreet sub in the rear shelf. I assume that there must be something available to perhaps replace the rear speakers to acheive my aim?

I think I saw a thread talking about focal 5 inch mini subs ..?

I'd be very grateful for any advice .. I do aim to change the front speakers too ... any system recommendations appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Steve

You could mount the 5"" focal on the rear shelf and build a small box to house it underneath (the box is slightly larger than the speaker or a 6wo as already mentioned in a small enclosure on the shelf or boot. Have you thought about a focal either under a seat or under the dash as the sound will be a little more focused.

Under the seat sounds an interesting idea ... has anyone got any info / pic's etc. on this? - and how much do these Focals cost approx?

Think they are about £70 a speaker. Where in the UK are you ? My friend owns a shop in Surrey and has one fitted if you want a demo.

I'd love to have a listen, can you please post the shop's details.

The shop is in Coulsdon, Surrey on the high street near J7 of the M25. He has one in his mini. The website is

If your coming down let me know as I'm only a 1 minute drive from the shop. I have 2 6w0's in my car if you need a comparison.
