How to find my PC MAC number
Help needed......................
I am trying to switch my broadband from a home account to a works one. My works IT folk need my MAC number and suggested I phone BT for help (as they are my service provider). To cut a very long story short the guy at BT told me this is a local PC requirement (all they could supply was a CBUK number!) and to go to my DOS command and type in WINIPCFG to then access the needed number. However I have tried, but get a message telling me it is not a recognised command. What am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated. (BTW I am running Windows XP home edition). Maxus |
start->run then type cmd and press enter (a black window show show up)
then type: ipconfig /all There should be something in there called "Physical Address", thats your MAC address. Regards, Jules |

In then end I looked the issue on the Microsoft knowldge base and found out that with remote USB modems (mine) the MAC address is on the underside of the modem...................... on a label! Thx BT for the 1 hour 15 minute wait for help and my IT bods at work!!!! |
