TD05 Conversion Help

Hi i'm a newbie on here i have just bought a 99 UK Impreza Turbo.

I have been doing some searches on upgrading and come across the TD05 conversion.

I am fittin an afterburner vortex exhaust and an induction kit (not decided on make yet)

I want to increase the power after this and this seams the best way to acheive it.

I presume from what i have read that i have the TD04 turbo. i just want to know what i would have to do in order to fit the TD05 turbo and any other mods that may need to be done.

What is the likely bhp outcome going to be from this conversion?

Thanx for any help in advance!!

You will need a remap (or boost/fuel/ign control of some kind)

Rest depends on power goals.

I'm doing the same on MY99:FE-TD05
Ported Headers
2" H&S Uppipe
3" Straight through Mongoose exhaust
STi6 Intercooler
Exedy Organic Clutch
Lightened Flywheel
STi Panel Filter
Airbox mod
HKS SSQV
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
FSE Fuel Pressure Reg
3 Port Boost Solenoid
Tek3

Knocklink
Lambdalink
Blitz Boost Gauge

Would expect mine will be around 320/330bhp.

why does the turbo have to have the front entry conversion?

And what about the gearbox ? can it handle that sort of power?

because your MY99 has front entry, you must use a front entry turbo.
gearbox may be borderline depending on how harsh you are with it.

The BEST way to achieve power after fitting your exhaust and induction is to get the car remapped to suit them. How much power do you want? How much do you want to spend?

If you're only looking for a hike to 260bhp, then you can probably achieve this with the exhaust, airfilter and a remap. In fact, you could probably achieve it with an exhaust, airfilter and a dawes device & fuel cut defender!

But if you're prepared to pay for the remap, I'd consider why you actually want to change turbos, how much power you are looking for etc etc etc and what your final budget is, as opposed to looking to change the turbo and making the car undriveable until it's remapped.

I want to be lookin at 330-350bhp in the long run. changin my turbo would be the last thing i do, i hope to do all the mods progressivley over to next year or two.

Dawes device isn't an option i'd rarther use a good boost controller when the time comes that i will require upping the boost.

Am gonna get a turbo back exhaust & induction kit and dump valve and get the car lookin mint before i even consider any heavy mods.

Just wanted an idea of which way i was gonna go in modding my car
