Nearly 3 months to take Switch transaction!

I've just had my Switch card declined when trying to buy something online, I was sure I had plenty of funds in my account. After checking the online banking system it turns out the Switch payment I made at the beginning of July paying off my council tax (over £1k) was taken from my account last week! It's obviously my fault as I never realised that it wasn't taken out of my account straight away but it's still p*ssed me off no end!!

What the hell have the council been doing for 2 and a half months?!?! To add insult to injury i've also been charged £30 for misuse of Switch card by the bank and £30 for going overdrawn

No wonder I thought I was doing well with my money this month

How the hell do you not notice £1000 too much in your bank account?

Lend me £100 will you? :D

LOL, I knew that's what people would say.

I basically hardly ever use my bank account. My wage gets paid into it every month and all the bills paid out of it, including the credit card DD that I use to pay for fuel & shopping etc. each month Anything left at the end of the month is transferred to a savings account. Day to day I live off cash as I also own a hair salon with the missus and just use the cash takings from that if I need to buy anything so I never really have a need to check my bank account, although I will be checking it a tad more from now on!

This may not be the case for you, but when CC payments are taken they can be "pre authorised". The money is "allocated" but NOT phyisically taken from your card to the supplier. The supplier can, at a later date, "ship" the goods and thus take the money from your card.

They probably just forgot to process it, happens all the time :(

Our local Spar shop realised they hadn't banked any of thier PDQ takings for 6 months

They promptly put them all through in one go and left lots of people very OD and very pi$$ed off!!!

Is it an Audi TT or a Boxster that you drive? ;)
