Football referees

They are a disgrace & how much do they get paid !
They are no better than when they were amateur & no fitter !!!!

The sooner we get Collinia the better !

Nathan L 14 September 2004 11:42 AM

The sooner they introduce video refereeing the better. IMHO.

richiewong 14 September 2004 11:46 AM

Totally agree, we're only just at the start of the season and the standard displayed is disgraceful.
This includes some of the 'top' referee's

Fulham71 14 September 2004 11:48 AM

Mark Halsey isnt a top referee lol
Anyone got his number id love him to explain some of his decisions on Saturday to me !
hopefully he will get dropped like Durso

Little Miss WRX 14 September 2004 11:49 AM

Hey, hey can you clarify what level please. :p

Chelle. (b1tch in black and proud of it too :p).

Fulham71 14 September 2004 11:51 AM

ALL LEVELS !

Little Miss WRX 14 September 2004 11:55 AM

I don't see how you can brush us all with a sweeping statement.

Ever seen any of my games hmmm? Manage to get to every grass root game in the world eh? Seen the Federation level referees in Australia? No, didn't think so!

Come on, put that brush away and start with facts rather than tarring.......

IIRC it's Collina not Collinia too......

Fulham71 14 September 2004 11:57 AM

ok every level which i have seen !
Being a Fulham fan that encompasses every level of professional football in England inc reserves & youth teams
plus non league games for Sutton. Carshalton Leatherhead Epsom & Ewell etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

so thats quite a few levels ! but not in countries I havent see no I was talking about England !

Little Miss WRX 14 September 2004 12:03 PM

True, but I have refereed in the UK too don't forget.

Also remember that whilst the matches that you are watching are going on there are hundreds of other games with other referees.......

There are some games which I have shockers.....I think back to a high level Youth League game I was doing. I had an atrocious game and failed the inspection. the next week I had the best game ever, no inspector was there!
Referees are human and although at the highest level you would expect near perfection, you won't get it. Video playback would bring marginal benefit but only in some areas of the game.
For crying out loud, does every striker score a goal? Does every goalie save? Does every tackle happen to be fair? No, players aren't perfect and neither are referees.
However, referees are doing their best.

It is so easy to criticise when you are watching, believe me the view of what is happening is VERY different from when you are spectating and when you are refereeing.

Little Miss WRX 14 September 2004 12:10 PM

Don't worry, I am not looking for sympathy, just remember, we're not all the same and we all have good days and bad days. :D
Trouble is the media always tends to catch us on bad days.:Suspiciou

I thought the Ref had a cracking game on Saturday :p

ps Kidding - He was pretty poor :(.

Fulham71 14 September 2004 03:02 PM

LOL jasey
Presume you are a supporter of the ARSE ! I kinda feel that the 100% record they have is slightly devalued with things like that goin on !

However as I have said to many I am not sure we would have got anything out of the game anyway !
Arsenal are a class above all the others again this season BUT its hard enough for us to get anything from the big boys without referees giving us NO CHANCE !

I might be a follower of the Arse ;). 40+ games you're gonna have a fair number of decisions that go for and against you. Poor Refereeing is one thing - Biased refereeing is another - Saturdays display, unfortunately, seemed to fall in the second Category - Still - He'll always be welcome at Highbury ;).

Fulham71 14 September 2004 03:07 PM

Good luck mate
Lets hope we put on another good display at highbury on Boxing day !
