Good reasonably priced camcorder?

Hi :)

I've decided that my VHS 8mm camcorder is just a bit out dated LOL. The problem is although i dont mind the size of the unit too much, it's all the chargers, cassettes, batteries etc etc i've got to lug round with me all the time.

I've seen a few peeps with some really small and compact camcorders which look ideal so has anyone got any recommendations? No, i dont want an all singing, dancing one and i have a digital camera for normal pictures so image capture features and things like that, i'm not too bothered about.

I really just want a small, good, reasonably priced point and shoot camcorder. Any advice welcome and if you could tell me what you paid for it and from where, that would be

Many thanks

Pete :)

Hiya,

First, you might want to look at www.cameras2u.com. Great site, first class service and VERY keen prices. Don't buy anything from the shops: you'll generally pay about 20% less if you use the internet or mail-order from specialists.

I got a Panasonic MVGS50 Fantastic bit of kit (fits right in the palm of your hand), though pretty much all of panasonics camera range is great; just depends on the spec you want. I paid about £480 for mine, but probably considerably less now!

The most recent variant is here:

Best.

Good site, cheers ;)

I know what you are saying about Panasonic, the one i have now is one and the quality is still superb although the camcorder is well outdated :(

Although the one you have is a bit more than i would have wished to of paid why is the one you have so much more expensive than say this one. What sort of features shouldn't i scrimp on. I remember the big issue years ago was LUX levels but what should i look for in a "basic" camcorder :)
