Fixings Sub Box into the Boot
 

Hi

Will it be safe for me to drill into the boot floor between the rear seats and the spare wheel well to attach a sub box.

Or

Will I drill thorugh something I don`t won`t too.

The fuel tank is under the boot floor, personally I wouldnt.

Best way to secure it is to get something to make a new floor (like a large peice of chipboard, wouldnt use mdf as its too heavy and the density isnt required), then screw it to that, you can secure the new floor in a few places.

I tried for years to secure my 12" sub and box, velcro secures it nicely to the carpet, but then the carpet moves!!!

Failing that, roll the carpet clean out the way and velcro it to the metal with sticky back velcro

Depends on what type of box it is. I had a box with two 10" subs in that slotted nicely behind the rear seats which I secured with just a strap (about £5 from Homebase) around the metal bar that runs along the bottom of the rear seat.

I now have a stealth box which i've secured by getting a couple of pieces of wood and screwing it to the side lining of the boot with the wood on the other side. No need for fake floors, very neat & doesn't move. The only prob I came across was that I had to take the lining out to secure the box to it & then put the box & lining back in together. Works a treat though :)

I've taken the easy option and used 'industrial' (i.e. very thick) velcro on mine - and its never budged. Cheap too.

The box will be housing 3 10 inch JL w6`s so will probably be to heavy for velcro.

OK, a good compromise would be to get a piece of mdf and use stikaflex to bond it to the boot floor.(under the boot carpet)
Then you can(carefully) attach some mounts/screw the box down.
