Subaru Club Nederlands day out for Jesse

Jesse is a very brave young Dutch lad who suffers from a muscle disorder and is confined to a wheelchair:(.......he is also completely Subaru mad;)

So when his Mum asked if anyone with a Subaru would mind taking him for a drive one day?:)

....this happened:eek:

And yes this boy had the day of his life.

mderijke 12 September 2004 08:21 PM

This was a seriously cool meeting :)

Yesterday was the day of the meeting:

http://www.2xceler8.nl/Jesse/Jesse55.jpg

After we had gathered 164 Impreza's near Rotterdam in an office area near the home town of Jesse, we started a 30-minutes trip by car to the home of Jesse.

There were also one police motorcycle and two police cars accompanying the HUGE assembly.
The trip was quite nice, and lots of people came out of their houses to look at the cars, wave and shout! Really nice. My brother and I had a bit of luck, as we were driving behind one of the (few) Mitshubishi EVO's that were also attending.

Once we got to Jesse's home, there were lots of people standing in the square in front of his house (drivers; co-drivers; family; neighbours etc.) As the crowd consisted of 164 Impreza's, there was a "slight" parking problem, and the whole neighbourhood was stopped at its feet.

Anyway, once Jesse and his two brothers were given a few gifts (posters, R/c cars, a t-shirt signed by Petter Solberg himself), we started the second part of the journey. Again under police escort, we had a drive of about one hour to the next stop. It was really nice to drive at 130 kilometers an hour on a out-of-town road, while being chased by a police motor with the sirens flashing, and NOT being stopped for speeding  :)

I think that a lot of people were very busy with the arrangements of this day, and thank them for it.

One more photo of the day:

I think that Subaru community really showed its best here. :notworthy

Well Done

One of our members pointed out this post on our Forum, I would like to take this opportunity to congatulate all that took part in this momentous event. As owners of performance cars, we sometimes forget about the real important issues in life, and get bogged down with our own interests . For all of you that took part, the Club spirit that you have shown in bringing some happiness and joy to a young lad less fotunate is highly commendable.

Well said that man!

Excellent Stuff! I am glad to say that I took part in another such event for a young lad with the same/similar disorder last year (October/November) and it was a thoroughly satisfying experience to have brought such joy to someone.

We also did a Xmas pressy run to Derby Children's hospital a week or two later. Isn't it strange that high performance car drivers can be so badly tarnished with bad press in the media and eyes of the general public (and often by their own hand), but when we do something like this and stuff for charities - it isn't recognised! Shame!

Well done to all involved!

Andy Tang 13 September 2004 02:55 PM

Brilliant, just brilliant, well done, you're a credit to society let alone a credit to the performance car world.

Great to see the pics, well done

Thanks for brightening my day :)
