is this the little fcuker that's inflated my recent phone bill?

this keeps appearing when i run a virus check and i imagine it's what cuts my internet conection then dials back up to the premium rate no. that's appeared on my phone bill?

can i stop this getting on my computer? coz fcuk knows where it's coming from, also has anyone had any joy moaning to BT(or whoever) about these numbers being used thru their network?
coz i think it sucks that these numbers are issued by someone and when they are used to obtain money frauduently(?) it seems nothing is done? or am i talking bollox and there's an ombudsman for this kind of thing?

any help on blocking these diallers or any comeback against the company that registers these numbers would be greatly appreciated coz i'm fooking fuming:mad:

First thing to do is get onto BT and bar premium rate numbers from your phone. That way, if you're infected again, at least they won't be able to dial out.

If you haven't already done so, make sure your PC is fully patched. Check your AV software is up to date aswell. To get rid of the dialer, try Spybot and Adaware first. If these don't work, download a trial copy of Spysweeper from Webroute. Once you've got rid of it, download and run Spyware Guard which should help to protect you in the future.

Do a Google search on any of the names mentioned and you'll find loads of places to download them.

You MUST make sure that you have a decent AV solution. I don't bother with the free ones after contracting a vicious infection last year. Lost months of work. Symantec Antivirus has never let me down since.

Order of importance.
Antivirus :notworthy
Firewall :norty:
Adaware :nono:

There is a link from the BT website where you can report the number and also apply for compensation.

does a firewall stop these things gettting to your computer? coz i've got AVG 6.0, spybot and adaware, all up to date and it seems as soon as i run them and get rid of whatever needs erasing, the next time i go on the computer all the gremlins are back again.

You could turn off windows restore prior to running the virus scans and stuff. They can sometimes lurk in the system restore files. Have a look on the Symantec site as it goes into detail about turning off system restore when doing your virus scans. www.symantec.com
