Help with Motherboard / CPU / Graphics Card
Hello
My PC is getting old and it's time I upgraded it. Now I went to have a look at a computer store (whilst I am in America) and I am astounded at the amount of Motherboards that are available. And to be honest, I am completely stumped as they all the more or less the same to me! I am looking for a "reasonable" computer, not leading edge, that will allow me to do things a little quicker than my current AMD 1.2. So can anyone recommend: 1/ Good motherboard (manufacturer and model) 2/ A reasonable speed processor to go with above 3/ A graphics card (but I understand these a little better!) Thank you for your help. Steve. |
You need to narrow down the extras you want. For example, on board sound, Firewire and of course your budget.
Asus have a good rep although I've never had an issue with any board I've used, pc chips included. Make sure you match your processer and memory speed to the motherboard you buy. Also the mobo should have 8xAGP for the latest gfx cards. If you want to stick with AMD, how about: mobo http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=49060 cpu http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=46144 Reasonable upgrade without going OTT. |
Asus all the way, with out doubt.
But get a 400mhz FSB capable board like one with an N Force2 chip set, not the one above, or u have no room for a better CPU if u ever change it. (the 3200 for example wont work in the above board) Bear in mind u prolly need new ram for ya new PC too. |
