Typical, group buy comes along, and I miss it :(
great price on both shocks and springs here guys, you can follow my progress here
there is a short video and pictures on the second page of the thread :)
I am still having fun experimenting with the settings at the mo'.
Bear in mind, my fitter (who shall remain nameless) had a pig of a job fitting these to MY99. Quoted me 3 hours, took over 5!
Great combo once on though, waiting 2 weeks now while they bed in, they having geometry redone :)

tbh chris- I think its your trail-blazing tha'ts got everyone sitting up and asking questions about these dampers! :)

chrome 12 September 2004 08:41 PM

chris- so how exactly do you adjust the rear settings? is it a hand and knees job? or lie on the ground? excellent video (as usual) that I think does show significant improvement over OE dampers! ;)

chrome 12 September 2004 10:32 PM

some extra info posted by DuncanG over @ 22b:

:KYB TECHNICAL TIP # 2002-06
DATED: November 20,2002
TITLE: AGX Adjustment Definition

The AGX products have the following approximate damping force values.
When adjusted, both rebound and compression damping forces change.
Setting#: Relative Value
1 - Same as Factory 100
2 - Same as our GR2 products (10~15% firmer than Factory) 115
3 - 50% firmer than #2 172
4 - 30% firmer than #3 223

For an eight position adjustable product, the damping force values are approx.
the following:
With #2 being Factory at a relative value of 100,
#1 = 95%
#2 = 100
#3 = 107.5
#4 = 115
#5 = 143.5
#6 = 172
#7 = 197.5
#8 = 223

cw42 12 September 2004 11:30 PM

chrome, thanks for that, and that info table is excellent :)
been out for a "proper" drive tonight with the smacs, chased by a wr1 of steelx up the cat&fiddle, and down the a54 into congleton, not a nice experience, I can tell you! :)
barnesy was with me for the ride, and noticed straight away how better planted it is on the straight and into and out of corners. Feels much more stable at speed.
Particular corner tonight, just outside of Alderley Edge, heading into Wilmslow, 90 degree left, rippled tarmac on inside edge: before suspension, car would scuttle shake all the way through, lose its grip, and slow down. After: didn't even notice the rippled tarmac! :)
RESULT!

Not actually got a bad thing to say about this setup so far, perhaps I should contact kyb, and get some sponsorship :)

finally, to adjust the rears, you have to lie on your back, scuttle under the car, somehow get your hand to the dial, avoiding the rear cross members, and try with all your might to turn the dial, while trying to see which way your turning it :(

Not easy, but not something your going to be doing everyday.

chris.

ps "scuttle" is the word of the day ;)

Wonder Wagon 12 September 2004 11:50 PM

Chris can you let us all know what its like after geometry set-up is done

Thanks WW :D

chrome 12 September 2004 11:53 PM

out of interest; are the roads up there still heaving with plod? especially the cat and fiddle and the lovely 50mph limit :(

havent been back up there since I last got stopped..

can ientify with OE 'scuttle' I have a similar corner that I go around once a day every day on the way to work.. will be interested to see...
btw- good job I have a 'creeper board' in my garage for undercar adjustments :D

cw42 13 September 2004 08:02 AM

wonder wagon, thats a done deal :) I'm having my geometry done 1 week wednesday @ prosport. watch this space!
on the saturday after, it's the smacs run to north wales :) so should give me a good chance to test it out ;)
chrome, been up the C&F quite a few times in the last few weeks, and not seen a single policeperson all the way up :) the 50 limit is no problem either, as it's quite a challenge to take all the corners @ 50 :)

chris.

julian N/W wrx my93 13 September 2004 09:10 PM

cw42 13 September 2004 09:30 PM

Huxley

chrome 13 September 2004 10:16 PM

or: for those of us wanting to use CC- could we deal direct with the company and use the 'scoobynet group buy' as a reference? would save the 4% :D

btw- when do you want the payments to be sorted? drop me a PM/email if you would..

jim litten 13 September 2004 10:31 PM

Yeah, it would be great if we could pay CC direct, means you get a month before you "actually" pay for them.

Jim

Anthony's_Scooby 14 September 2004 07:33 AM

Is there any chance of paying by CC direct, as I would join for Dampers and Eibachs if I can pay with CC, short of cash at the moment.

I guess I could pay paypal using CC but thats going to cost another £15.

Please let me know

Anthony

Huxley 14 September 2004 08:10 AM
