I had a Nokia 3210 on the Orange network which was locked and wanted to give to my daughter, went to my local market and one of these stalls that sell phone accessories did it there and then for a fiver. Has worked fine ever since!

can you unlock other phones say a SE p900? what benefit is there in unlocking a phone

Not having to pay Orange 50 quid to get a phone unlocked because you've moved to another network for starters.

ahhh I see, so i could use a sim from another network in my phone if they offered a better taffiff. is that the jist of it ?
