Key comes out when ignition is on?

Does anyone elses classic scoob do this? I had thought it was nothing to worry about, but it gave me scare exiting a couple of left handers at Trax when they fell out.

Unless you're talking about keys falling out of your pocket :) this is not normal. Get thee to a garage.

i got a mcrae and the keys come out too. however they rarely fall out. i do find this is great on cold mornings as i can start the engine, pull out the keys, lock the doors get inside me house and have a nice cup of tea and when i go out to the car...its lovely and toastie....but us southerners are whimps like that! :)

My classic also does this. When the ignition is on or the engine running i can remove the keys from the barrel and put them in my pocket.Nice trick but im always worried that the steering lock might come on if its driven :D

My old micra did this always used to start it then put keys in ashtray as they fell out once and went under pedal  i never worried about it though and steering lock never came on ;)

The key doesnt fall out of the barrel on our MY93 but I spent a good ten mins trying to work out why our car was still running when I had the keys in my hand last week. I spent a long time assing about the the turbo timer before I realsed the barrel was still on the ignition setting

Yeah, my last one did that too..

Like kicked says, it was really useful. :)

Unfortunately I was full wide open throttle on a corner at trax when mine did it. Not a big thing in itself but the immobiliser suddenly lost its signal.

It was very interesting as I span round. :D

Then I couldnt find the damn things to start it again

sounds like a worn key or ignition barrel problem.

My old Lancia had the same "feature".

It's great for $hitting up passengers though
