Samco hoses, good adverts, or good hoses?
 

Like above, are these just well advertised or are they actually good?
If they are good, why are they better than standard hoses?
And why do Prodrive change one as part of the PPP when every "expert" i talk to just laughs at them doing it?
No "expert" i have asked sees any reason to change that hose as part of PPP, so why they do it?

There was a rumour that the OW plastic intercooler hose could split when running higher boost pressures. Since the Prodrive Performance Pack increase boost, I guess they decided to fit some more durable and tougher hosing. Whether there's any proof in this on another good old Scooby myth is debateable.

Most change them for looks in a std engine bay, but those modifying their car often need custom hose lengths and so it makes sense to buy something from the likes of Samco. There are cheaper alternatives though.

So, what "experts" have you spoken too?

I wont say on here, i respect them too much, and i dont wish any flaming to start. But i have been told that possibly they cannot see what difference changing the pipe would make, in terms of raw bhp anyway.
from safety i can see what you are saying for sure.

I can't see it making any difference in power either. But, when they charge your £1600 for a PPP you've got to expect more than some STI bits :rolleyes:

Power wise... Hmmm afaik it is only changed for safety reasons due to increased boost, however... it use to be a problem on older classics but i have never heard of a std later car one failing?? maybe slightly better flow perhaps..

Changing your hoses will not give you more power!!
I will give you a little more peace of mind :)

I have not herd of a Samco (or simalar) splitting, I have herd and experienced 4 std rad top hoses splitting on the bend! :o (all on classics so far).

The Samco intercooler hoses are alot smoother inside than the std ones and are sooooo much easier to get on and off :)

The shape alone should tell you things are better. Much smoother so the flow is better. This isn't really up for question it's basic fluid dynamics.

Think how much air your car uses at full power, and what the air speed must be in there.

Whether or not you notice a difference is another matter. Every little bit helps, when tuning an engine attention to detail like this makes all the difference.

Why wrap your headers, why insulate your turbo, which change that hose, why box off your induction kit....

Individually you'll hardly notice a difference, but it all adds up.
