Dis-appointed with TSL

Rang TSL to book my car for MOT and the guys refused to book me in because I only go there to have my MOT done and nothing else.

I used TSL last year to sort out the MOT, so I thought I will use them this year. They asked for my surname to check my details on their system and saw I only had an MOT done and no other jobs in the past.

Basically they will only cater for people who spend mega bucks or frequent customers and will not cater for one time a year customers!!!!

drumsterphil 03 September 2004 07:35 PM

Even people who spend mega-bucks can get treated like sh1t - if they find out you've gone to another tuner for more work and haven't chosen to use them!;)...................

If they refused to test your car because of the reason you said then i would phone your local VSOA office for advise.....seems a pretty poor excuse to me

Vinesh 04 September 2004 08:28 AM

Any views from TSL?

Will contact VSOA for more advice. Have you got any contact details for them?

i have had no problems with tsl, give them a ring and ask them for an explanation-any company that gets me discounted food is good by me!!
martin
maybe they cannot mot it due to mods

Red Rocket 11166 04 September 2004 02:20 PM

I agree with p1doc. :thumb:

Rang TSL last week and spoke to a guy called Gavin, about an induction problem.

He was very helpfull "Top Bloke."

Give them a ring.

Cheers Red.

simo 04 September 2004 04:45 PM

Try some one else m8. If they don't want yr business, however small, don't give it to them. When you want to spend more cash remember who did'nt want the few quid 4 the mot.

Nothing has changed on the car since last year.

alcazar 04 September 2004 09:45 PM

AFAIK, TSL don't do their own MoT's, they do a precheck, then take them down the road to an MoT station they work with.

Could this be the reason? Not much in it for them really? They have always been helpful to me when I've rung them though:):

Danny B 04 September 2004 10:20 PM

There must be loads of MOT places in Northampton, why are you so keen to use TSL?
Is it because they are "de-cat friendly" if you know what I mean ;)

Tone Loc 04 September 2004 11:35 PM

I wouldn't worry mate.... take it there and it will come out with lexus lights, naff graphics and other nasty max power mods. Better off going somewhere else.

Tony.

Guys

Relax. Let's not do what we usually do and jump to conclusions.

I'm sure there are two sides to this story the same as everything else.

TSL have a long history of very happy customers on scoobynet, so why don't we give them the benefit of the doubt in return for the support and friendship they've offered us all over the years.

Give them a chance to explain.

Regards
webmaster

Yes, but you are only as good as your last job from a customers point of view.

Ging@moo_ee 05 September 2004 09:28 AM

Tony, i've been to tsl many a times and never come away with any of those things, nor been pushed to buy them. Why people feel the need to jump on the band wagon is beyond me.

CraigH 05 September 2004 09:28 AM

According to some peoples "scoobynet etiquette" doesn't matter how good you are, as long as they can join in a witchhunt

funny really when a dealer starts to get slated the thread goes on and on but when it's a 'specialist' thats getting slated we all get told to hold our horses until we get the other side of the story. maybe then moderators if a dealership is getting slated the same rules should apply to them as well and maybe if they were, dealers might not have such a bad name on here.

Well there normally is two sides to every story and i feel it would be best to know both of them before i personally come to a conclusion.

Maybe a few more dealers should post on this site, that way we may get a more balanced discussion.

We have an arrangement with a local garage for MOT-ing cars and are happy to be able to help anyone get their MOT done. It takes us an hour by the time we're there and back and we charge for it, BUT, we've never had a failure and it can usually be done while you wait drinking my coffee.

If we're busy, which these days is most days, the garage will come and pick it up from us and return it, in which case you don't pay me the hour, because l haven't done anything.

We do a lot of MOT's on cars that are running out soon, when we have the car in for an engine rebuild. Remember, If you have a current unexpired MOT the new one can be postdated up to one month in the future, PROVIDING that the old MOT is produced at the time of the test.

So l'll see you all soon then ??

i wish they would but with a site that is so anti dealership they will never get a fair hearing.

Vinesh 06 September 2004 11:48 AM

Has TSL got anything to add?

Trouser @TSL 06 September 2004 07:00 PM

Vinesh

I don't know all the facts here as I have only just seen this thread and all the staff have sensibly gone home.

I would imagine that your car is decatted.

Our MOT station kindly keeps both a classic and new age cat section there for fitment should the car need one to pass emmisions check. The cost of fitting this is borne by ourselves and absorbed in light of the additional business the majority of customers give us throughout the year.

If you are asking us to pass a decatted car for the same price as a catted one with no hope to recoup the extra expense involved we would indeed decline the business. Basic busines... and perhaps common sense.

I can only apologise if the reasons for this were not fully explained to you over the phone. I shall ensure that all customer facing staff are made aware of the miscommunication.

Kind regards

Paul

Yep the car is de-catted, same as last year.

TSL

A cat was fitted last year (By you) to pass the emmisions check. I paid £77 for MOT last. This included 0.5 hour for checking the car over.

TSL

No, I just wanted to book my car in for MOT and pay what ever you charge. I assume the cost will be the same or little different from last year??

But I was refused a booking because I have only had one job done with you in the past and nothing else. As stated in my orignal post.

Vinesh

Trouser @TSL 07 September 2004 08:42 AM

Vinesh

The first MOT was done at that price for you. The three or so hours taken to remove and refit your de-cat pipe were waived as a fruitless gesture to entice you back for future service business.

As you obviously don't feel we are good enough to maintain your Subaru throughout the year, I find your disappointment at failing to book your car in somewhat surprising. Perhaps the garage that does your servicing may be able to help?

Any MOT station will be delighted to take your booking. Please bear in mind that sensibly, they may want to charge you to remove and refit your decat pipe which may increase the cost somewhat.

Just to clarify, We are not an MOT station. In addition to the free exhaust labour you won last time it also takes two technicians and a spare car to down tools and run your car to the station and collect it, losing nearly an additional man hour for the whole operation.

Polite note to all.. MOT'ing is only a service we offer to existing or potential service customers. Vinesh, after 12 months I guess you prove to be neither.

p1doc 07 September 2004 08:52 AM

seems fair enough, they have to run a business
