Clutch slipping which clutch to buy under 300 quid?

Hi,

Was doing a 0 - 60 mph last night revved to 3000 up with the clutch started to move then revs sky rocketted to 7000 rpm o dear clutch is fooked as a result 0 - 60 was 7 seconds

Can anyone advice what clutch to get I am lucky in that my uncle owns a garage so me and my father who is a mechanic will be fitting it so it shouldnt cost me to much. How many hours is it to change the clutch? Is it worth getting the flywheel skimmed? Any other thing to note while doing job?

Cheers people.

Hi Mat, I am looking at getting a new clutch for my MY98. The cheapest I have found so far is £179.00 + vat delivered from www.carparts-direct.co.uk 01332 290833.It's made by National autoparts. I don't know if they are any good though, has anyone used one? Also do a search for Borg and Beck on scoobynet, I think these are cheaper but have mixed reviews.

I found one on www.sapmotorparts.co.uk for £120 might go for this as a temp measure.

I use borg and beck and (touch wood) to date everything has been hunky-dory.
what I didnt do is have the flywheel skimmed/lightened and regret that now.

when the clutch gives way (fair sized power hike imminent) I will be looking around but will make sure a lightened (8kg?) flywheel goes on.

my local garage quotes 4 hrs to do a scooby clutch.

Don't buy a National clutch. Cheapest nastiest pish you can buy. The lining is made of dried monkey jism.
