They are quite good, but it depends what you plan to use them for. Stock replacement or for street/ minor track usage they are perfect. They are not well suited for very high spring rates or to be lowered more than 1.5" and from my testing, they only lasted about a 6 months daily use with rallying or jumping on a weekly basis.

They do have a lifetime warranty though. You can send them in to the manufacturer and they will send you a new set for life.

blueyzfr1, hang on before you order from the states :(
I was looking into the same shocks, with eibach springs for my 99 uk turbo, found this site
I couldn't believe the price :)
I've phoned them, and checked that the price listed for front and rear was for 2 shocks, not per shock, and it seems it is. I should be getting mine on friday at the latest, so dont go buying from the states just yet m8.
Bear in mind, if customs get hold of your package, you will be stung big time for vat and customs tax :(
I'll let you know what I get in the box when it arrives.
chris.

ps, fitting instructions here :)

blueyzfr1 01 September 2004 06:30 PM

You are a star, that looks like the deal of the century!
Many thanks, looks like they will have another customer!

:notworthy

Regards,
R

cw42 01 September 2004 06:45 PM

like I said though, wait till I get mine, just to make sure I've not ordered 1 front and 1 rear shock for £260!
pm me your moby number, and I'll text you to let you know friday,
chris.

Chris

It would be really good if you can post on here your findings or send me a pm as well please, I have been looking for suspension options and really like the idea of being able to easily change the stiffness.

Thanks Anthony

Thanks Anthony

Every KYB Ive ever seen listed is either per set or each, Ive never seen them priced in pairs so Id triple check that thats what youre getting.

cw42 01 September 2004 10:57 PM

anthony + bren, like I said, I was dubious too :(, I'll post up what I get on friday as soon as I get in from work @ 2pm.
I hope to god I havn't paid for 1 rear and 1 front :(
The guy on the phone triple checked for me, and then phoned me back a few mins later to ask my car reg. so they could find out exactly the right model number of parts.
What till friday,

chris.

bren@apex 01 September 2004 11:10 PM

Fingers crossed for you :)

chrome 02 September 2004 12:38 PM

...bring on friday :)

cw42 02 September 2004 04:12 PM

Your crossed fingers didn't work bren :(
I was called today by the company, and they apologized for the confusion over whether the price was for 2 or 1 strut, IT WAS FOR 1 :(
But to soften the blow, they offered me the struts for £102 each, which makes it £408 all in, a saving of £80 from the cheapest place I could get them before.
Now I need Eibach springs, and was directed to a thread on scoobynet concerning Dave Featherstone from Demon Tweeks.
Call him on 01978 663042, and he can ship Eibachs to you for £138.35 + vat, instead of £153.72 + vat.
So, for £570 I have a full set of adjustable suspension, just need to get it fitted now, and the tracking redone :)
chris.

blueyzfr1 02 September 2004 09:17 PM

Hey it's still a good deal, still let me know how they perform.
Thanks.
R.

cw42 02 September 2004 10:22 PM

blueysfr1, catchy sig by the way :), I'm gonna do a before and after vid of my suspension in motion, give everyone a good idea of the improvements.

Guys

I have 2 Impreza's one is a WRX MY93 and the other is a STi Type R v5

After trying numerous suspension options incluing almost liquidizing my innards with HKS Hyper Coilovers I discovered the perfect suspension for my MY93!!!

KYB AGX adjustable dampers and Eibach Pro Kit springs!!

The suspension on the MY93 is almost indistinguishable from the Type R suspension. It is just the dogs danglies!! I have the KYB's set at setting 3 (2nd stiffest) at the front and the rears set at 4 which is around the middle setting!

Just perfect for UK roads!!

I can't remember how much I paid for mine but i got a good price from http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk

thanks for that highlander, had a quick look at the site, and the kyb were not listed as adjustable ones, also eibachs were quite a bit dearer than I managed to get.
Good info on your cars though, cant wait till its all sorted :)
chris.

highlander 03 September 2004 08:53 AM

They weren't listed when I contacted them either - but they got them and at a good price - might be worthwhile giving them a call.

Anthony's_Scooby 03 September 2004 01:42 PM

Look forward to the videos, Any idea how long before you get it all fitted? This sounds like it could be my answer.

Would also like to know what difference they make to tha ride height as my new exhaust is catching on the dreaded speed humps(car is lowered 50mm so looking to reduce this a little with new suspension)

Many Thanks

Anthony

cw42 03 September 2004 03:03 PM

rather unexpectedly got all my suspension bits today :)
demon tweeks weren't ordered till 4pm yesterday, and arrived today around 10am, result :)
I'm down to get them fitted next wednesday, so you'll have to wait till at least thursday and I'll let you know what I think.
I'll get some videoing done on sunday or monday, the before footage, then probably do the same again the following weekend for the "after" footage.
Cant wait to get them fitted now :)
chris.

I called Motorsportworld about these AGX dampers as well. The guy there told me that they could not supply the adjustable AGXs, only standard KYB dampers.

I'll be interested to see how people get on with these though - I am looking to get some new dampers for my '92 Legacy Turbo. My other option is to get some P1 dampers (STi 5 Type R I think). Not sure what will be best though......

cw42 05 September 2004 11:47 AM

Got the "before" film in the can :)
suspension movement on the front is quite shocking to see (excuse the pun:))
Now cant wait till wednesday, when it will all be sorted.
watch this space.

Just as a matter of interest, who would be interested in a group buy for kyb agx adjustable suspension, may also look into eibach springs at the same time.
If I get some numbers, I can approach the company that supplied mine, and see if they can do a further discount :) (maybe should have done this before I got mine, and saved myself a few quid :()

chris.

bren@apex 08 September 2004 01:30 AM

Youve got a pm :)

cw42 08 September 2004 05:15 AM

chris.

blueyzfr1 08 September 2004 07:41 PM

Yeh sig is neat eh :norty:
Anway can't wait for the results, I think you are on to a winner.
I would be interested in a group buy.

UPDATE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS :)

VERY DIFFERENT is how I would best sum up the car now.
garage fitted them today, picked the car up tonight around 7pm. Geometry still needs doing, as I've been advised to let them bed in for 2 weeks.
I remember when I first got my scooby, I thought it handled "on rails", that is until I had the geometry done :)
Now, I feel like it handles the same, except much, much better communication with the road, hardly any body roll, and lots more grip in the corners.
Let me explain: The agx's come with adjustable dials: 1-8 rear (1 is softest, 8 is hardest) and 1-4 front (1 soft-4 hard), garage had set the rears on 4 and the front on 2.
First impressions from garage, down the road, typical uk A road, bumps, potholes, crap roadwork repairs everywhere :(, car jigged about more than usual, but my 2 kids didn't complain, so wasn't too bad. Onto the motorway, M60, nice and smooth, very well planted on the road. Traffic was end of rush hour, so no real oppurtunity to open her up, but just felt more stable than before.
Eventually got to my favourite bit of B road, towards Glossop from Compstall, and put my foot down. Straight away, the speed I am able to carry into and through corners is around 10mph more than before. I am comfortable doing 50 along there usually, tonight I did a comfortable 60, and no geometry set remember :)
So, when I got home, I decided to have a go at changing the damping. Found the front dials no problem, top of the strut mounts in the engine bay, but the rear dials, I looked everywhere for, finally finding them on the back of the struts, facing into the car. Not the most accessable place by all means, and not somewhere I would like to be on a wet floor.
So have now changed them to 3 front (harder) and 5 rear (harder) to see what that is like on the 5 mile trip to work tomorrow :)
I was going to put them on full hard front and rear, but thought better of it, I'll save that for the track in October :)
Finally, just before I shut the garage, I did a quick bounce test :)
Before suspension: LOTS OF BOUNCYNESS ON THE FRONT
After suspension: NO MOVEMENT AT ALL :)
Should be an interesting drive to work tomorrow :)
I'll take some pictures tomorrow, and also try to complete the "after" part of the film.

chris.

ace find there Huxley !!!

they sound smart chris!
'coilovers on a budget'- like it! ;)

Anthony's_Scooby 10 September 2004 01:16 AM

I have one question before i enter the group buy, is the height adjustable on these if not have you noticed a difference from what you had before.

Thanks Anthony

cw42 10 September 2004 05:08 AM

anthony, they are not height adjustable. Eibach springs drop your car around 30mm.
I honestly thought it would be lower than it is, but you can hardly tell the difference.
I'll sort out all my pictures and film tonight, get it posted up :)
chris.
