Thanks Dan Rolfe TBH i don't think you're gonna get what you want for it on here, not a pop at scoobynetters but not alot seems to go for what it's worth i'm afraid:( have you tried a dealer, maybe hiring a spot on their forecourt? don't know if they do this, but might be a way? other than that, bite the big bullet and P/X it |
i thought it would of gone along time ago tbh, how much is it worth at p/x prices? Cheers Dan
|
Maybe not what you want to hear but I would be interested in a p/x for my MY99 UK turbo, FSH, 39k miles + cash.
Maybe not what your looking for but the car is sweet! |
Your not the only one who cant sell there scoob, had my car in the auto trader and top marques, and E-bay and not a phone call, dont think classic scoobs are going at the moment,, so ive decided to keep it now, i cant be bothered to keep putin it in the auto trader every week for £30 a time.
|
You only posted your ad 10 days ago, have patience. I sold my car (MY00, PPP, 17" wheels, 60k miles) through the SIDC site, but it took 3 weeks to get any response at all - then several people all came at once and it went for just £95 below the asking price of £8995.
These cars do sell - at least, the good ones do - it just takes time. |

Thanks Dan Rolfe Sold my sti5 in May 04 for £12.5k via Autotrader; not a nibble on this forum though (be warned). Keep it on Autotrader is my advice; if no sale then keep it as it's a fantastic car (I really miss mine)! X. |

How about ebay? I know s couple of people show have sold cars on there and have had no probs :)

Hi Dan,
I bought your last scoob off you and its still fantastic (apart from me slightly cracking the splitter in a car park the other day - doh!). I'll certainly vouch for the way you keep your cars matey, but I was just wondering why you are selling it so soon? Evo? Cheers, Ian. |
Good luck with the sale mate - if I didn't have a P1 - I'd bite your hand off - looks sweet and price seems pretty good to me!?
One minor thought - it is the holiday season - so not only are lots of people away, but they've also probably pssed their cash away on the Algarve etc. If you can hold out for a few months you might get a better response. |
selling a car is all about price, how quickly against how low you can go.
|
Sounds like you are putting the car in your local Autotrader Magazine.. bad move IMHO..
I have sold all of my cars on Autotrader.co.uk but never had a single call from using local AT magazine. Just had a quick look and a national search is showing one car cheaper than yours but higher mileage...? Worth a shot? I usually advertise for 3 weeks and end up cancelling after two max.. Not trying to rub salt in your wounds just trying to help.. Rob Rob |
Dan, unfortunately you can barely give a scoob away at the moment :(
But still can't believe this hasn't gone  Its well priced, but you'll just have to be patient. Whats the lowest you'd let it go for? Still out my price range :( MB |
Re: Auto Trader, I've never had any luck with the web site but have sold two cars through the mag. Remember, plenty of people don't have access to, or choose to use, the internet.
If you're not in a hurry there's no harm in leaving the car on Scoobynet, SIDC, Pistonheads, FindIt and any other free or cheap advertising sites for a while. |
this is my 2nd scoob now and im not really after another 1 atm, im working for audi now so im looking at getting one just for the cheaper servicing etc.
prices have dropped alot since i bought mine, but im gona keep on trying it on pistonheads, scoobynet, autotrader and even mite join sidc just to put it up. Thanks for all the help tho guys its much appriciated! Dan |
I cant really let it go for much less if any as im being left short as it is but i havent had any offers or anything really. Dan
|
i have just sold my sti type r version4 for £8k to a dealer. i honestly thought i would sell it without too much bother but advertised on here, sidc, ebay, autotrader.co.uk and local papers and not a single person came to see it. at the moment there doesn't seem to be many buyers...
i was gutted because i had to sell it as i got disqualified from driving... if you can i'd stick with it.. |
I would have had your arm off Stan, but you had it up for £12.5k didn't you? MB |
i did at first then dropped it on here to 10.5.. then 10... i was truly gutted because i had spent so much money on getting the engine rebuilt and competition clutch and hks exhaust...etc...
& the worst thing is that i probably won't get another one for a long time.. after a so called m8 gave me an orange juice with vodka in it... was driving so had a pint and then went on soft drinks, felt fine got in my car (battered old citroen i used to use for work), police saw me pulling out of pub and pulled me over... blew in the bag..escorted to station, they took blood and 5 weeks later i was banned for 12 months for dd, my blood was at 84 and the limit is 80... so lost my job that very day and knew that the scoob was going to go as well... the mrs wasn't too h.p either..!! but hey que sera sera.... |
:(

it's a bad time of year for selling houses as well. Most buyers are on holiday. It'll pick up in September.

It's only £60 and its in there till ur car is sold....funnily enough (according to the ad on the radio anyway) :D The trouble with a scooby is that these are not everyday days, they cost a fourtune to run / repair and insure, so you don't go into buying one of these cars lightly, {he says after forking out for a new box/cluth/flywheel/engine} 11mths after buying a scooby:eek: there not like Ford / vauxhall and such like were u can go to any scrappy and get bits. So when it comes to selling ur pride and joy its gonna be hard, cos no wants to pay the price tag u put on it, they wait and wait until u really need to sell then they pounce with a very near offer which is so tempting u have too sell. 97% of people looking at scoobs on here are doing just that, looking, the 3% that are in the market for one have a very wide varierty, so they can pick and choose and seriously haggle with you because at the end of the day they have the cash which you want. IMO :D |
