Has the phone got a filter too? I had that problem with an older cordless basestation until I used a filter for it too...

You are right - it shouldn't do that.

You say the modem is plugged in through the filter. You should have the phone plugged in through the filter too.............. My filters have two sockets, one for the modem, one for the phone - I assume all are the same.

Yep, 1 filter for EVERY phone socket in the house.

Could be a dodgy filter.

Can you unplug everything from all the extension sockets and try a single filter in the master socket with your ADSL and a phone in?

basically my set up is off the telephone port in the living room (the only port), in this goes the phone handset base station and an extension lead. on the end of the extension lead (in the dining room) is a micro filter (2 ports) one is my modem, the other is another phone.

ive got another micro filter due to be delivered tomorrow from ebuyer (£1.25, <rant>how the hell can the likes of currys sell these at nearly a tenner - robbing fecks !! </rant>)

if i put that filter at the main port should that solve it, and which port should what go into

cheers for your help so far guys

I assume you have a double adapter at the master socket? If so, plug filter #1 into one side of this and phone #1 into the phone socket on the filter. Plug the extension lead into the other side of the double adapter. Plug filter #2 into the other end of extension lead and then phone #2 into phone socket of filter and ADSL modem into ADSL side of filter #2.

Becomes more difficult if phone #1 has one of the combined plug and extension sockets, as you will end up with the ADSL modem being filtered twice which may give strange results.

from that decsription all i need to do is add the filter (that should arrive tomorrow) at the master socket

will post results

cheers
