max bhp from a stock STI8 (light mods)

Whats the best we can get from a standard turbo and front mount with either ecutek or aftermarket ecu(GEMS)?

Depends upon how long you want the engine to last, remeber you have a warrenty mate.

save for the prodrive kit (cira 2K) and get it fitted by the local dealer - if it goes bang and its still as they fitted it, they pay.

If you do do something, its not worth doing one bit without the other as your'll loose balance (may gain bhp but loose torq' vis-a-vers).

Any way that's my 1 pennies worth.

what about JDM STI8's?

I think the safe max seems to be around 350bhp without major internal Mods IIRC

I ran 362 on mine at a max of 1.6 bar on standard internals.

I know of one car thats run 400 - 405 safely on standard internals, 355 is top on standard turbo with ECU, FMIC, Dump valve, Fuel Pump etc. Fit a bigger turbo than the standard turbo and run lower boost but get the airflow to achieve 400 :D

Bob Rawle Ran 368bhp on his JDM STi (twin scroll variant).
