Broadband Question

Anyone on Wanadoo BB @ £17.99/month?

I think its about time I upgraded to BB but do not want to pay a high monthly rate. I mainly use it for downloading music and noticed that there is a 2gb limit.

Anyone know roughly how many songs or albums you can get for 2gb?

Appreciate any help / advise.

Cheers.

Depends on the quality of the MP3. Vary from about 1-2Mb for <128Kbs. I think a song at 192k quality is around 4Mb, but that would depend on the length of the track. So, I would say 20Mb for an average album and 40Mb if ripped at a higher quality.

Don't have any MP3's at hand to check though.

Is that 2gb per day or per month??
If it's per month,I'd say to look elsewhere as there are better offers to be had without restrictions!! :)
I get 1 nearly full DVD each week from a friend at work containing MP3's with all the latest releases and they are done at 128kbps
You are looking at roughly 3-4mb per average song at that level of encoding so I'd say you'd be looking at say between 500-700 songs

Good luck

Nick

2gb per month. Who provides unrestricted access then for around similar price per month.

Also, wanadoo is 512k and modem etc is free. 12 month contract though.

Have a look at www.adslguide.org for comparisons between the different ISP's (DSL modems are pretty cheap to buy anyway so don't let a 'free' modem be the primary choice for signing up with an ISP)

Good luck

Cheers for the advise so far.

There are so many different suppliers / options it makes it very difficult to decide what to go for seeing as most of them once signed, you are committed for 12 months.

...Zen are £19.99/month (inc. VAT) but that's for 256kbps up & down. It's uncapped, though, and the minimum term is one month.

I'm on the wanadoo broadband for £17.99. Had no problems and we are downloading loads of stuff all the time and haven't ever used the whole 2gig yet. Depends how much you really want to download in one month as t owhether the minit will be a problem.

According to the Register (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/08/24/wanadoo_adsl/), Wanadoo aren't going to impose the bandwidth cap this year.
