Drummers / Musicians - Help!!
 

Any drummers or musicians on here who drive non-wagon scoobies (you know what I mean!)??

What I need to know is will my drumkit fit in the boot (obviously with the seats dropped). My biggest concern is whether the bass drum will get into the car, whether it be through the boot or back door.

Anybody with words of wisdom, please help!!

Not sure on Drum kits, they will fit in an old Astra tho :)

I used to frequently carry the following

2 4 U racks,
2 Tascam DA Multitrack recorders,
2 8 U racks, (one of them with the tascams in)
2 crates of cables & looms
2 Keyboards (5 octave minimum)
48 Track Mixing Desk
20 Track Mixing Desk
a couple of guitars
couple of mic stands
6 patch bays
Power supply for the desk (4 U)


All in a Honda Prelude (the small curved shaped one, the predecessor to the current model)

I would imagine the bass drum *might* fit in the boot, but if you have a rear strut brace then forget it

Also your best bet might be to fold the passenger seat down fully, and put the bass drum in through the front passenger door, as I dont think it will fit in the rear door

You could always get an Electronic bass drum, they are much better these days :D

Boot - no chance - the opening is just too small unless you are using a 15" Bass Drum, dismantled :norty:

I'm a drummer! Had a wagon as had a hooge double-bass drumkit to cart around but got rid of that and went Roland TD-6 instead and bought an RB5 instead.

Your bass-drum, if it's a 20in or bigger will not fit in the boot. However, a 5-piece will easily fit in a saloon - bass and floor tom on back seat, snare on front seat and toms/hardware in boot - easy!:D

In short yes it should all fit. I have a tama starclassic performer kit 5 piece on a rack, with stands for 6 hanging cymbals. It all goes in my sti7 , and went into my old classic non wagon.
Bass drum will fit through the back doors if you tilt the front seat forwards to get the angle right. floor tom also on back seat, and every thing else in the boot.

my mates the bass drummer in a pipe band and can't get his andante drum in full stop! Looks like it would go in the door but no chance really! Probably a bit bigger than yours but still a pain in the bum!

That's been one of my concerns. 5 electric violins, a 10u "rack of doom", the 1.4k PA system and I still want a rack mixing desk specifically for the effects *sigh*...

I bought a wagon for the very reason of gig equipment as i play bass. I normally take myself and the guitarist along with an Ashdown stack, fender twin reverb, 2 basses, 3 guitars and a bunch of flight cases. - all in all, i can't fit anything else in!

Ive got a five piece Pearl export kit and manage to get it all in the scoob (non-wagon). All of the hardware and toms go in the boot and the bass sits on the back seat. Fits a treat!

The only way I can get the bass drum in is to go thorough the front, put the passenger seat down and roll it into the back. Slide it across behind the driver and put the passenger seat up.

I bought an STi wagon as I make my living as a bass player.(I claim the fastest landspeed record with an ampeg stack....lol)
I cant get a bass drum in either front or back door,by boot only.........so unless u've got a small jazz kit,get a wagon.
