Replacing MAF sensor: what happens if...

you don't get the CEL fault codes deleted straightaway and use the vehicle? Are you likely to cause damage to the new sensor? Or will it readjust itself nay problem?

AFAIK - you won't damage the new MAF but it'll take (quite) a while for your engine to re-adjust itself and get back to normal running. Resetting the ECU will put it back to where it should be.

depends on the MY. 99 and above will readjust automatically after 20 mins. pre 99's will need an ecu reset.

so said my dealer when i had mine done...

Mine's an MY97. I might try a "home" reset then. After all you have to take anything a dealer tells you with a pinch of salt, don't you?
