ebay and 7 day cooling off period?
 

if u buy something of ebay and u dont want it for whatever reason and seller wont give a refund-can u use the distance selling act whereby u have a 7 day cooling off period to demand by law ur money back or does this not apply when u buy of a private seller?

dont think it applies to private sales...

when you bid on an item you are entering a legally binding contract. if you didnt want it you shouldn't have bid! alternatively if the auction hasnt ended you can remove your bid.
at auction end if you dont pay or dont want it the seller can apply to get a refund on all final value fees he/she has incurred! then you will be asked to pay by ebay ands if you still dont then you will get a warning ... 3 strikes and your banned!

You bought it, it's yours.

Your only comeback is if it's not what was described or not in the condition described.

If you bought it in error or just don't want it - bad luck.

I believe the 7 day cooling off period is only for cold callers - i.e. people calling at your door uninvited. (and certain financial deals)

Used it myself a couple of times - just buy everything the double glazing salesman wants to sell you at his price, then the next day send a recorded delivery letter cancelling. Hopefully the pushy **** went out that night drinking his commission away to celebrate :)

The Ebay regulations are there for you to read, you enter a contract by bidding and if you win you just have to face up to the fact that you have to pay up. There are commitments that you can't get out of, its all part of Life's rich tapestry!
