second hand longines vintage watch.

Cartier Tank Francaise in stainless steel. New is around £1700. Alternatively could get a Panthere.

Good sites for second hand watches (I've been to both these shops in real life):
www.secondtimeround.biz
www.austinkaye.com

Cheers for the info guys.

The guys at Second Time Round are really helpful, and it's just outside Bond St. tube station (they're inside Grays Antique Market, so don't make the mistake of walking all the way down Davies St. in the p1ssing rain to find them, like I did  )

Personally, I'd steer clear of Rolex and their ilk as I don't think they look very elegant on a lady.

Hoppy 18 August 2004 12:09 PM

Omega Constellation is classic, classy and feminine. Available for well under your budget in steel, or way over it in gold and diamonds

Cartier Tank or Santos also very nice, and a bit more chunky. Ditto Rolex, which is also automatic and properly waterproof, if these things are important. You won't get a discount on a new Rolex, though.

Just a thought, but big men's watches are very fashionable with the ladies these days.

Have a look on www.blitzwatches.co.uk

Richard.

Can you guys help me identify a watch. I was massive with twin faces. Diamonds set into them with furthur diamonds set into the bezel. Blue leather strap. A customer of ours had one and I just wondered how much they were.

I have the confidence to buy off E-bay, and from dealers and watch fairs, but you need to know what your buying.

Dont be affraid to buy from a reputable dealer second hand, there are some serious bargains about.

As for what model to buy, well it depends what she likes. You have not supplied enough info.....( shrugs )

I bought my other half a TagHeure Alterego, a nice slinky dainty watch.

She robbed my 3/4 sized OmegaSeamaster  because she likes it !

Then asked if I would take a few links out of my Daytona, so she could wear that too........Errm NO !

http://www.seikowatches.com/press/basel02_sportura.asp !

So you need to ask her does she like chunky sports watches, or dainty ladies watches, does she like leather bands or St.St, does she like bling-bling or plain, bi-metal or single tone. Will she need any other functions other than the time, ie stopwatch, date window etc. Get a feel for what she likes then post it back up.

Later yoza......( rummages around looking for discarded TagHeure :D )

PS. A little off subject and wrong forum, but Im selling a Seiko Sportura SMA137/now called an SLQ015 for some strange reason ( rrp £1300 ), and a full sized Omega Seamaster Professional. I will post them in the for sale section soon with pictures. Look up the Seiko and drool at the beast. :)

Yoza, you're Yachtmaster for sale?

Bought my Rolex from Second Time Around. Great service - they changed the bezel and clasp to the ones that I wanted, while I waited (needed to shoot round to Rolex to get a new clasp).

Re not elegant on a lady - depends what. My wife has the most basic 24mm Lady Oyster, in s/s, with blue face and no numbers, and absolutely loves it. Very understated. I'd post a pic if I could find one.

Hoppy,

Everthing is for sale, it just depends what is offered.........

But my YachtMaster would have to fetch really good money because I like it.

After thinking for 2 minutes, no its not for sale.

Sorry.

Diablo 18 August 2004 03:49 PM

Yup, mine has the same as Brendan's but with the pink/champagne coloured dial - no numbers/date etc and a very simple machined bezel (not the diamond cut) and she loves it :) . Very small, very elegant and will last longer than she will.

Hoppy, there's a nearly new SS/plat yatchmaster in a jewlers in Glasgow for sale - as new, box and papers, £3600. (£4450 new)

Saw it this lunchtime.

My sister has a nice Ebel in white gold with diamonds - not sure which model it is, but it might be worth looking at the range as they do some nice ladies watches.

If I was your bird  I would want this one.

I would also tell you, when you said..... " How fcukin much ! "

" Well am I not worth it ? ", works every time.......:D

That is such an open ended question.
The first thing you want to do is spend an afternoon looking round some decent jewellers ie Berrys,Goldsmiths,Watches of Switzerland, find the sort of thing she likes, and then if you have some more specific questions come back here and we may be able to help you find the best deal.
